Design in Tourism

The thesis deals with the position of design in tourism and is focused on the Czech Republic, mainly Prague. The thesis includes in consolidated form all the available information concerning design in tourism and can easily serve as an overview on the topic. Additionally in the final part it shows the ways how the design could be worked with in tourism and how it can be developed. There are discused two points of view -- the point of view of the service providers and the point of view of the institutions. The theoretical part deals firtsly with the connection between design and tourism, then with the importance of design attractivities in tourism and subsequently those are catagorized. The contribution of the theoretical part lays in setting design into wider context and defining its role in tourism. Besides that it also justifies the role of design from many points of view -- economic, psychological and environmental. The practical part deals with forms of intermediation of design in tourism and with activities of institutions in this field. The contribution of this part is defining the design-aware trends in activities of those institutions.
