Desk study concerning EPOC for fitness training

Thema works: Desk study concerning EPOC for fitness training Student: Romana Klimovičová Supervisor: PhDr. Aleš Kaplan, Ph.D. Objective: The aims of this work are to give a complex view of problems of Excess Post Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) based on literature retrieval (primarily foreign publications) and to summarize all relevant knowledge available, as it seems to be key to the question of efficiency and the choice of the optimum training loads. Methods: Literature retrieval of information by using both foreign and czech resources published between 1970 and 2009. Summary: This work should serve both coaches and athletes as a brief summary of techniques and methods used in fitness training to monitor, analyze and evaluate the training load. The main aim is to introduce the less commonly known physiological indicator called "EPOC" and its potential applications. Last but not least, the work should serve as a starting point for future research in the field of the EPOC indicator. Key words: Training efficiency, fitness training, EPOC, oxygen debt, SUUNTO T6
