Using some aspects of suggestopedia in English language classes at lower secondary school level

This thesis implements aspects of suggestopedia in English language classes for lower secondary school level. The theoretical part of this thesis provides information on current traditional and alternative methods on foreign language teaching. The thesis also contains a detailed description of suggestopedia. An additional objective represents music theory and its various uses during teaching. This thesis aims to prove that some aspects of suggestopedia are highly adaptable when teaching pupils English as a foreign language. In order to achive this goal, three lessons are created with their curriculum according to the Framework Education Programme and School Education Programme for secondary schooling. This thesis offers a detailed description of three English language lessons and teaching material that is included in the appendix. Evaluating the suggestopedia adapted lessons comprises of a group interview and a short questionnaire. The final conclusion of the thesis is based on feedback provided by pupils and the teacher's self-reflection.
Creation of instructional DVD rescue and first aid in the aquatic environment for pupils of secondary school

The study deals with rescue and first aid in aquatic environment. Creation of the audiovisual teaching tool is based on the available literature and the structured survey. The main objective of the instructional DVD is to improve knowledge and skills of pupils of secondary school related with prevention, rescue and first aid in the aquatic environment. The video contains various lifesaving information with regard to the basic rescue techniques. The instrucional DVD relates to the survey in the course of the projection. Such a combination educates pupils about safe behaviour and decreases the risks of injury in the aquatic environment. The DVD is especially intended for the youth, nevertheless, it can educate the wider society as well.
American rock music of the second part of 1960s and its cultural and political role

The thesis deals with the cultural, social and political events in the USA during the 1960s. It examines the degree of interaction of these events with rock and pop music. It defines music as an essential part of counterculture and anti-war movements. In addition, the work focuses on specific organizations and groups that took part in numerous demonstrations and marches. Attention is given to the musicians who warned people about government propaganda, persecutions and injustice. The thesis reflects the changes during the 1960s in the USA as a source of inspiration for the next generations. The practical part contains a preparation for an English lesson for the ninth grade of elementary school. It introduces cultural and social background. Several topics of multicultural education, which is part of the elementary cross curriculum education, are included in this bachelor thesis. It focuses on awareness of pupils' cultural and social values. At the same time, it leads them to be curious and tolerant to different race, nations and cultural diversity. The lesson is uploaded on the methodical website RVP.CZ, where it can serve as an inspiration for other teachers.
