Bachelor thesis deals with the assessment of the information system division IT&S, company ABB Ltd. and the subsequent creation of the draft amendments to eliminate the current problems. The work is focused on a specific part of the information system of the company, on Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The main objective of the work will draft measures to optimize this production system. Partial objective will be to extend the information system.

The bachelor´s thesis is focused on issues of management of the company A studio group, spol. s r.o. over years 2012-2016. The first part of the thesis contains theoretical way-out possibilities, where the basic terms are defined. The second part deals with the calculations of selected indicators of the financial analysis and the interpretation of their results. In the last part of the thesis, based on the results, there are proposed some way-out possibilities for improvement of financial situation of the company.

Vehicle Axles with Electric Drive

The aim of the bachelor’s thesis is to compile an overview of the known solution for front and rear axles and characterizes development trends. The first part describes existing suspension, comparison, theoretical description of individual axle components, methods of attachment to the car body and their advantages or disadvantages. In the following section attention is focused to the drivetrain. Electric motors, by their compactness, change the established drive layout typical for internal combustion engine cars. The final part is dedicated to the comparison of the vehicles with electric drive and similar cars with internal combustion engine. Based on he gained knowledge the future development of electric vehicle axles is outlined.

In the Quest of Measuring the Financial Cycle

The recent financial crisis has demonstrated the importance of the linkages between the financial sector and the real economy. This paper sets out to develop two complementary methods for assessing the position of the economy in the financial cycle in order to identify emerging imbalances in timely manner. First, we construct a composite indicator using variables representing risk perceptions in the financial sector and calibrate this indicator to capture the credit losses the Czech banking sector experienced during the recent crisis. Second, we focus on the transitions of loans from one risk category to another, which allows us to capture the financial cycle from the perspective of the debt-paying ability of non-financial corporations. Both financial cycle measures can be used by policy makers for a wide range of policy decisions, including that on the setting of the countercyclical capital buffer.

Stress Testing the Private Household Sector Using Microdata

We develop a methodology for identifying financially distressed households and use it for testing the responses to shocks to the unemployment rate, the interest rate and prices of essential expenditure in the Czech Republic. We extend the approach of Johansson and Persson (2006) for Sweden and Albacete and Fessler (2010) for Austria to allow for full labour market transitions between employment and unemployment, and, due to data availability, to account for heads and spouses within households. This improvement may lead to a higher response of household distress incidence due to the unemployment rate shock than in both Sweden and Austria, while the effects due to the interest rate shock are of similar size as in Austria. We illustrate the use of our approach for stress testing households’ ability to pay their debts using macroeconomic scenarios from the CNB’s official forecast and from the CNB’s Financial Stability Report. The results highlight the importance of using micro-level datasets in the analysis of household distress incidence, as the impact of shocks is more pronounced among lower-income households.

The effects of price on alcohol consumption

This paper considers the relationship between alcohol price and alcohol consumption in the Czech republic in years 1996 - 2008. The purpose of the paper is to find appropriate econometric model and identify the price elasticity of alcohol demand in the Czech Republic. Simultaneous equations model was chosen as the most suitable one. No statistically significant relationship between alcohol price and alcohol consumption was proved for any type of alcoholic beverage. The second part of the project studies the effort of states to regulate the alcohol consumption using the rise in prices. It deals with consumption taxes and minimum prices, nowadays very discussed topic in Europe. It endeavours to estimate the real impact of the regulation and compares minimum prices with consumption taxes.
