This master theses is about lamentation and also about first monodic rapresentations at the turn of 16. and 17.century. Lyrics of these first operas are based on ancient greek porms. I wrote concretely about the second opera by Claudio Monteverdi "Arianna" where is the most famous lamentation. There is a of pieces which were based on Monteverdi ś pattern.The next chapter is about mythological Dido and her lamentations in music (monodic or madrigal). The last two chapters are about relation between marriage and death and using lamentations as a part of court celebrations and about ornamentation.

This essay is about development of minimalist music. The other part is about Philip Glasses compositions, his compositional progression and his way to theater. Final part is about opera Einstein on the Beach, which is the first opera by Philip Glass. There is summary of musical components which are used in Einstein on the Beach, libretto with czech translation, description of scenes and finally harmonic and formal design of the whole piece.
