Effect of exhaust pressure loss on efficiency of gas microturbine
Čechman, Ondřej ; Havlásek, Martin (referee) ; Máša, Vítězslav (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to support of microturbines application in industrial processes where it is not used yet, but where it would bring economical saving. This is especially in the case of CHP. For specific CHP system is need to design heat exchanger according to the specific application. One of the necessary parameters for heat exchanger design is exhaust pressure loss caused by heat exchanger, which has negative effect on electrical efficiency of microturbine. The concrete aim of this thesis is verify effect exhaust pressure loss on electrical efficiency of gas microturbine. This issue is solved theoretically using values declared by manufacturer of microturbines, which has been later verified by experimental measurements. The results of this thesis will help to integrate specific microturbine (Capstone C30) as CHP unit for model of energy intensive consumer in the Laboratory of Energy Intensive Processes of NETME Centre at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Brno University of Technology.
Sewage sludge treatment
Adamus, Petr ; Havlásek, Martin (referee) ; Zejda, Vojtěch (advisor)
The first part of bachelor’s thesis deals with waste water treatment up to the phase, when the sewage sludge is created. Then follows the summary of available sludge treatment and disposal methods and their description. Next part is about legislative overview and a summary of the limits imposed on waste water treatment plants. In the last part, the bachelor thesis deals with description of sludge properties and their measurement methods. The practical part contains measurement and calculation of sewage sludge properties, exactly calculation of dry matter by determination of dry residue and determination of loss on ignition in sludge.
Upgrading biogas by PSA
Krhut, Štěpán ; Havlásek, Martin (referee) ; Zejda, Vojtěch (advisor)
This work deals with bio gas cleaning by a PSA method and modernizing of a laboratory unit. Raw bio gas contains many unwanted elements like carbon dioxide mostly which lowers its energy potential then. To extend the possibilities of usage of bio gas it is necessary to remove such elements. One of the well-known method for eliminating CO2 out of the bio gas is the method called Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA). This work describes PSA method and compares it with other methods for cleaning the bio gas. In the following part of my work I am introducing the original laboratory PSA unit which is placed in the laboratory of UPI institution for research purposes. The modernization of the method was made by changing the manual valves for electromagnetic ones and there was also designed a new control system unit for two control modes. For manual and for automatic. The essential function is based on remote controlling the valves either by switches or by a program. The electric control panel was created for such required modes. The automated process was controlled by Arduino programming platform which was integrated into the panel. In the case of the next measurement and reading there was created a detailed description for user on how to operate the control panel and also the comments for control program of automatization.
Low-grade heat recovery in industrial processes
Novák, Michal ; Gal, Pavel (referee) ; Havlásek, Martin (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the waste heat recovery options from industrial processes. The first part is the theoretical introduction into the problematics of the heat transfer. In the next part the most common waste heat sources are presented. The third part summarizes the methods for waste heat recovery. The last, practical part presents the implementation of the waste heat recovery system into the real operation.
Industrial evaporators for process water treatment
Cacková, Tereza ; Havlásek, Martin (referee) ; Vondra, Marek (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is focused on industrial process water evaporators. The basic principles of evaporation were described and various types of industrial water evaporators were introduced. The main part of the thesis was a thorough research and creation of a database of industrial water evaporators, which is also a probe into the current situation on the water evaporator and sewage sludge market. Part of the thesis is also comparing evaporators with other thickening technologies.
Efficiency of gas microturbines
Slovák, Rostislav ; Gal, Pavel (referee) ; Havlásek, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on gas microturbines and engines. The text is devided into five parts. The first part is an introduction to the issue of cogeneration technology. The second chapter describes principles of microturbines, including the calculation of theoretical efficiency. The third part offers a descrtiption of gas engines. The fourth part compares gas microturbines with gas engines based on producers catalog values. The last chapter describes the experimental finding of the efficiency of Capstone C30 microturbine and offers a comparison of the theoretical, catalog and experimental values, whilst explaining differences.
Waste heat recovery from processes using heat pumps
Marada, Petr ; Zejda, Vojtěch (referee) ; Havlásek, Martin (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to describe the possibilities of using waste heat from the processes by heat pumps. The first part defines the waste heat and deals with the possibilities and ways of its use. The next section describes the different types of heat pumps, their components and sources from which it is possible to draw the heat. The last part shows the calculation of return on investment to make heat pump for heating office buildings.
Vacuum evaporation efficiency improvement
Havlásek, Martin ; Máša, Vítězslav (referee) ; Vondra, Marek (advisor)
This thesis is focused on experimental work in the domain of vacuum evaporation efficiency improvement. The first part introduces theory of liquids evaporation and its influencing factors, then multi-stage flash distillation technology. The next part of theory is an overview of other technologies used for desalination of sea water and introduction to the design of experiments. In the practical part are selected factors affecting efficiency of device and experiment plan is designed for them. When the experiment is done, optimal operating conditions of technology are designed on basis of analysis.
Energetical utilization of waste, especially sewage sludge
Havlásek, Martin ; Kuba, Pavel (referee) ; Frýba, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor´s work discusses about energetical utilization of sewage sludge. The process is described from sludge treatment to flue gas cleaning. The main emphasis is on incineration, which are governed by legislation. First are listed sludge treatment and utilization technology which included thermal processing in which is thoroughly described the process of incineration. The following are methods for co-incineration of sludge and devices for direct incineration. Work is finished by chapter about flue gas cleaning.
