Monitoring of Electrode Changes of Negative Electrode for Lead-Acid Batteries by Operando Confocal Microscopy
Hálová, Hana ; Vanýsek, Petr (referee) ; Chladil, Ladislav (advisor)
The thesis is focused on the laser microscopy observation of the negative electrode for lead-acid batteries during their cycling. The surface changes are evaluated during both deep cycling and PSoC (Partial State of Charge) cycling. The mode leads to gradual degradation of the negative electrode – mostly because of irreversible sulfation. The speed of the sulfation can be influnced by additives of the negative active mass added already during production process. The active mass was firstly examined by electron microscope and X-ray diffractometer. The crystal growth during cycling was observed using confocal microscope Olympus Lext OLS4100.
Synthesis of Perspective materials for cathodes of Li-ion batteries with low cobalt content
Hálová, Hana ; Kazda, Tomáš (referee) ; Chladil, Ladislav (advisor)
The thesis is focused on cathode materials with low cobalt content. In the work, there is a comparison of cathodes with cobalt, low cobalt content, and without it. The materials are compared in terms of theoretical specific capacity, commonly achieved specific capacity within first cycles, energy density, and cycle life. Taking into account these criteria there have been selected perspective high voltage cathode materials. For selected cathode materials, various synthesis options were compared, with spray-drying synthesis chosen for the research conducted within the experimental part of the thesis. The thesis also describes the preparation of a laboratory apparatus for spray-drying synthesis, including a particle capture system. Furthermore, systematic experiments were carried out to optimize the high-temperature calcination process.
Study Of Surface Changes Of Negative Electrode For Lead-Acid Batteries Using Operando Confocal Laser Microscopy
Hálová, Hana
Our contribution deals with the laser microscopy observation of the negative electrodefor lead-acid batteries during their life-span. We evaluate the surface changes during both deepcycling and PSoC (Partial State of Charge) cycling. The mode leads to a gradual degradation of thenegative electrode – mostly because of irreversible sulfation. The speed of the sulfation can be influencedby additives added already during the production process. The active mass was firstlyexamined by electron microscope and X-ray diffractometer. After that, the crystal growth duringcycling was observed using confocal microscope Olympus Lext OLS4100.
