REVITALIZATION AND SPATIAL CULTIVATION DOMINICAN MONASTERY IN ZNOJMO

The subject of the thesis is an urban and architectural study of the Dominican monastery complex in the historic center of Znojmo. The aim of the work is to find a suitable programmatic solution for the area, taking into account the historical and current social context, so that the treated territory is re-integrated into the life and structure of the city. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis analyzes the historical and cultural starting points in the area of the architecture of church buildings, faith in society and the community of the Order of Preachers’ Brothers. The design part of the diploma thesis is devoted to the overall revitalization of the area, consisting of the reconstruction of the former Dominican monastery, the adjacent rectory, the design of a new housing structure complementing the building ensemble, and the cultivation of exterior areas. Emphasis is placed on the sustainable use of the area as a functional interconnected unit meeting the needs of modern urban society. The result of the proposal is a complex solution creating a new environment for culture, services, work, housing and leisure time, thereby simultaneously strengthening the community relations of the inhabitants of Znojmo.
