Baseline: Self-esteem is often perceived as an indicator of emotional and mental well-being and life satisfaction. How we perceive ourselves is also important for our environment. Addiction disrupts the attitude towards oneself, and self-esteem becomes problematic. Therefore, it is important to focus on strengthening self-esteem in therapy. Goals: To determine the change in self-esteem of patients undergoing inpatient treatment for addiction at the Department of Addiction Treatment of the Kosmonosy Psychiatric Hospital. To demonstrate the influence of the studied categories (education, occupation, number of treatments and length of addiction) on self-esteem. To compare the change in the subjective perception of psychological quality of life in relation to self-esteem. To analyze the change in psychological and physical health. To recommend possible interventions based on the findings. Methods: This is a quantitative research conducted using questionnaires administered at the beginning and at the end of treatment. The Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale was used to assess self-esteem. The Schwartz Therapy Assessment Scale measuring the psychological aspect of quality of life was used as an additional measure. Quality of life of men addicted to alcohol before and after the treatment on coeducated department of addiction treatments on PN Kosmonosy

Background: For an addicted person abstinence is not a goal but a way to improve their quality of life. Aims: The aim of this bachelor work is the evaluation of the efficiency of improving the quality of life of men addicted to alcohol hospitalized in the co-educated department of addiction treatment in psychiatric hospital Kosmonosy. Sample and methods: The sample was made up of 22 men addicted to alcohol, which filled in the questionnaire at the beginning of the treatment and after it. To acquire the data, two questionnaires were used. The first questionnaire was designed for collecting the sociodemographic data and as the second one was chosen a standardized questionnaire of World Health Organization WHOQOL-BREF (shortened version). Results: The research survey had shown that the quality of life of patients after the treatment have risen compared to perception of quality of life's of men before treatment. Patients stated an improvement of their subjective perception of their health at the end of the treatment. In the observed domain of experiencing the patients show the greatest improvement compared to the values recorded before the treatment.
