Doors as an image of sacral space
Eštoková, Petra ; Musil, Jiří (advisor) ; Titz, Pavel (referee)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to show specific exampes of images with false doors in the Etruskan art and to show their development through time within incorporated iconographic displays. Conclusions I made are from books dealing with topic of Etruscan religion and images of false doors in Etruscan art, as well as from my own interpretations based on specific artistic monuments. I focused on images on wall paintings, sarcophagi and on urns. I tried mainly to explain the using of false doors in Etruscan art to express the passage to World of Dead. Important aspect on the end of this work is compare Etruscan false doors with false doors in Egypt, which influenced the Etruskans for sure. Keywords: false doors, the afterlife, way to the underworld
