Dimpflová, Michaela Pavlína ; Veselý, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Voráček, Emil (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the often discussed topic of Czech-German relations, their development both in the past and present, elaborating on mutual relations and co-operation in border regions after the fall of Iron Curtain. In the introductory part, history of co-existence of Czech and German nations on the present day Czech territory is outlined, as it was forcibly brought to an end by the World War II and its aftermath in terms of expulsion of German speaking population. It was not until the end of the ideological conflict between East and West that the relations were fully revived and restored. The goal of the thesis is not only to evaluate Czech-German relations from a historical point of view, but also to describe their development and mutual understanding of the two neighboring nations using the example of real story of two communities in border regions after the year 1989.
