Formal and informal family supports to adults with schizophrenic disorders

Bachelor thesis deals with mental illness called schizophrenia, family responses to the mental illness of their family members, coping with these situations, ways of formal and informal support in a family in which a person with schizophrenic illness live and finally the end of the process of deinstitucionalization. The first chapter describes the mental disorder called schizophrenia, its symptoms, process, form, possible heredity and treatment. The following is a view of illness as a lack of income and the government allowances for sickness and disability. The end of the first chapter takes into the system of social services in the UK, Denmark and Germany. The second chapter deals with a family and their reaction to the disease. It gives insight into the relationship, living situation in the social environment and the risks that may arise in the family due to the illness of their member. It shows what the stress means to the family, describes which situation can be stressful. The chapter also addresses to how manageable this issue is, intervention of a social worker, introduction of resilience and community care.
