History of the Institute of Czech Language of Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences

Institute of the Czech Language was established in the year 1946 and in its work continued and was extended the research traditions and mission of its predecessor: Office of the Czech-Language Dictionary. In the year 1953 the Institute was incorporated in the new Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. Despite having been subjected to ideological pressure until the fall of the totalitarian regime in 1989, the most significant Czech linguistic position was nevertheless able to reach and keep in the high-quality scientific work. Institute of the Czech Language of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences did an all-round research on the Czech Language not only in its repreentative form but also in its local and social dialects and historical development. lts educational activities were important, too. For the history of this Institute ha ve not been worked up yet, the aim of this work is to make a survey of the organization and activities of the Institute of Czech Language of the CAS. 75 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
