Rules of foreign words transcription into Korean
Chrdlová, Adéla ; Mazaná, Vladislava (advisor) ; Horák, Tomáš (referee)
This work deals with the rules of transcribing foreign words into Korean. The aim is to summarize the rules, including historical development, to compare the current version with previous versions and with the rules of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Point out the problems of transcription and provide their solutions and explore the use in everyday life with a focus on the frequency and accuracy of transcription. The work is processed in the form of descriptive analysis, where individual forms and knowledge are compared. Today's rules are more systematic than previous versions and differ from the North Korean rules. The transcription rules contain shortcomings both in the writing of long and short vowels and in the limited number of graphemes used. Foreign words are increasingly used in everyday speech, and this also leads to more frequent transcription errors. Using multiple forms for a single expression can confuse the listener.
