The protection of a client in financial services

1 Title: Client Protection in Financial Services Key words: client, consumer, financial service, deposit, credit Abstract The present diploma thesis focuses on the client protection in financial services. It introduces relevant legislature and provides a reader with the analysis of the level of legal protection. Introduction part explains my motivation for the choice of the topic, mostly influenced by current debate over certain forms of financial services. It also presents a processing method of the thesis and kinds of resources used. The first chapter of the thesis is dedicated to an elaborate definition of the analysed key terms - the client and the financial services. In the contewxt of this work is client understood as a consumer. First part provides the reader with comparison of legal definitions of consumer presented in various legislation. A broad term of finacial services is hereby narrowed to accepting deposits and providing credit loans. The second chapter consists of analysis of legislation which regulates client protection in this field. Substantial part is provided for the proper decription of the EU legislature. Title: European Competition Law in the Area of Information and Communication Technologies Abstract The world of information and communication technologies developes with a tremendous speed. This pace is something that we need to adjust to, and the EU competition law represents no exception. This thesis concerns development of european competition law in the area of information technologies enabling communication between users. The scope of these technologies is narrowed to telecommunications and so called OTT applications, as both demostrate best the differences caused by dynamic development. In the area of telecommunications the analysis starts with a brief introduction of historical development triggered by process of liberalisation, and continues with the analysis of the decision making of both the Commission and the CJEU. All the areas of competition law are included - articles 101 and 102 of the TFEU, control of concentrations and to certain extent also state aid. Attention is dedicated also to consequences of roaming and of its cancellation, which is about to happen in the upcoming years. Impact of judgements of the Court of Justice of European Union on four freedoms

This bachelor thesis is concerned with the impact of judgements made by the Court of Justice of European Union. It particularly deals with judgements which influenced four freedoms, which are free movement of goods, services, capital and labour forces. The thesis presents activity of this institution in context with historic development of economic integration within EU. It also mentions sphere of action and proceedings which influence four freedoms most. The main focus is laid on particular judgements and decisions which created four freedoms in the way we take part on them these days. A particular space is dedicated to the way of how the Court of Juctice of European Union works and to changes brought by Lisbon Treaty. The thesis also analyzes the impact on four freedoms that the Court might have in future.
