The process of identification of segments of the pre-industrial landscape in the Czech Republic
Kolejka, Jaromír ; Kirchner, Karel ; Ondráček, Stanislav ; Zapletalová, Jana ; Batelková, Kateřina ; Krejčí, Tomáš ; Nováková, Eva
The identified segments of the pre-industrial landscape represent a valuable cultural heritage of the countryside. They represent the subject of landscape and landscape protection. They can become an attraction of tourism and a source of income for rural communities. The novelty of the methodology is based on the use of the latest• and at the same time the oldest reliable cartographic data to identify the landscape cultural heritage segments. The methodology presents the identification marks of the segments in the current landscape and of their verification based on historical maps. The results of the methodology should contribute to the evidence and to the maintenance of this less known cultural heritage.

Pre-industrial landscapes of Moravian Slovakia
Kolejka, Jaromír ; Batelková, Kateřina
The areas in the landscape with the preserved secondary landscape structure originated before the mid-19th century can be seen as existing segments of the pre-industrial landscape (PreIL). Such area has retained a similar character of land use from the period before the main wave of the industrial revolution in the territory of the present Czech Republic. Comparative documents registering the secondary landscape structure of the old pre-industrial landscapes are represented by the maps of the II. military survey and in cadastral maps both from the first half of the 19th century. Current source of information on the pre-industrial landscape is represented by a recent colour orthophotomap. The region of the Moravian Slovakia, which was defined for research purposes, has only a relatively small number of pre-industrial landscape segments respecting PreIL´s identification criteria.

Pre-industrial and post-industrial landscape in Moravia: concept and reality
Kolejka, Jaromír ; Batelková, Kateřina
The paper deals with the scientific concept of the terms the post-industrial and the pre-industrial landscape and presents available data sources needed for their identification in the Czech Republic. The overview shows the current state of knowledge and the research progress in the study of such historical landscapes. In brief, the methodology of their identification, mapping and classification is given. The post-industrial landscape Rosice-Oslavany and the pre-industrial landscape Bělečsko are presented as examples from the historical territory of Moravia. Their significance for cognitive, educational and conservation practices is emphasized.
The geographical drought – a different view of the issue and its application in practice
Kolejka, Jaromír ; Batelková, Kateřina ; Ruda, A.
Czech Republic, the land locked Central-European country faces the risk of drought in the last two decades. This problem is being studied by number of academic and applied institutes. We have focused on the so called geographical drought caused by an integral impact of representative factors of all natural landscape components and human land utilizing. Using GIS technology, we have carried out an exemplar research ignited by the hot wave and the precipitation deficit in the 2013 summer. Using detail natural component maps and land use data at the resolution 1:50 000, five territorial classes of drought risk were distinguished. Some of the most endangered areas cover large territory in the most fertile agricultural land in Southern Moravia. The artificial irrigation has to be planned and constructed on large plots primarirly to prevent harvest loses after hot wave has started.

The possibility of issuing a warning against the landslide risk
Kirchner, Karel ; Kolejka, Jaromír ; Rapant, P. ; Batelková, Kateřina
The paper deals with the introduction of the procedure for evaluating landslide risk to the issuance of timely warnings to the mayors of potentially vulnerable areas. The procedure consists of preliminary evaluation phase followed by an operational phase after completion of activation conditions. The actual procedure consists of 9 basic steps and uses available data on geomorphology, geology, soils and land use.
Slope movements as natural hazard, their impact and threat of landscape
Batelková, Kateřina ; Kirchner, Karel
The contribution deals with the landslides and their impact on the landscape. Landslide events associated with extreme rainfall periods in Moravia and Silesia are discussed in detail. Research of slope deformations allow to specification and revision of the genesis of some meso-forms of the flysch relief in the highlands and mountains of eastern Moravia (remnants of planation surfaces, frost-riven cliffs).
The possibilities of flash floods prediction
Rapant, P. ; Kolejka, Jaromír ; Inspektor, T. ; Batelková, Kateřina ; Zapletalová, Jana ; Kirchner, Karel
Flash floods are very important natural phenomenon today, which is devoted considerable attention in the general public, the media, the public administration system in the professional community The main characteristic of flash floods from the perspective of crisis management is the short time between the cause (torrential precipitation) and the result (flooding of the territory and the emergence of major damages or even loss of life). Right the shortness of time implies that to save lives it is necessary to obtain a warning of impending danger in the shortest possible time after the cause. To do this, a new methodology that enables to identify streams, which may be the subject of intense water runoff and thus manifestations of flash floods was created (Rapant, et al., 2015).
