The development od cycling in České Budějovice: its potential, origins and destinations

Cycling is one of the key parts of sustainable transport, but it hasn't built its place in Czech conditions yet, even though it is talking more and more about it and it becomes the topic. The city of Ceske Budejovice is well known for its traffic jams, which could be partly solved with the development of city cycling. The objective of this master thesis is to analyze the potential of cycling as a mean of transport in Ceske Budejovice on the knowledge about this issue from developed cities of Western Europe through recognition the offer (recent infrastructure) and demand (survey among current and potential users). Results of the survey show that the city of Ceske Budejovice is really deep under its opportunities and the share of cyclists could unsubtly increase with aimed and conceptual development of safety, logically connected and quality cycling infrastructure. This could solve the traffic jams, improve air quality and raise traffic safety. It is important to find out the relations in the city due to origins and destinations of transport for development in the right way. This research is the second aim of analytical part of this thesis. This Bachelor thesis deals with spatial mobility of Citizens of the town České Budějovice, particularly with using of the urban public transport. Prologue is dedicated to analysis of geopraphical literature about transport and then to characteristic of transport relationship of České Budějovice and characteristic of urban public transport in České Budějovice. Futher the research and its evaluation follows. The research was conducted in four different areas of the town and it deals with who, how often and where travels by urban public transport and it also solves which alternativ conveyances use people for moving in the city.
