Types of the Roerich movement in Russia and abroad

The bachelor's thesis is devoted to the Roerich movement, which originated in the 20s of the 20th century and soon spread to a number of movements and groups around the world. The main attention is paid to the current state of the Roerich movement on the example of its three organizations, namely in Russia, Latvia and the USA. The study is based on available literature and sources, but primarily on interviews with leading representatives of the two Roerich organizations, through a comparative analysis, their common features and differences are described. Concept of Authoritarian Regime of Juan Linz and its Application on Antanas Smetona Rule

This bachelor thesis analyses political development in interwar Lithuania, which declared independence in 1918. The years of independence ended in 1940 by Soviet occupation. The thesis is concern on period of rule of Antanas Smetona who become the Lithuanian president after military coup d'etat in 1926. The analytical part deals with the theory of authoritarian regimes by Juan Linz, who developed this theory in his book "Totalitarian and Authoritarian Regimes". The thesis explains the main statements of his draft, analyses empirical datas which are relevant to Smetona's regime and then provides a comparison. The aim is to find out to what extent the regime of Antanas Smetona is in accordance with Linz's definition of authoritarian regime.
Use of data from Latvian frequency dictionaries in the forthcoming Latvian-Czech bilingual dictionary

The aim of this work is explicitly stated in its title: our aim is to apply data from the frequency dictionaires of Latvian language, available in specialized, ie frequency dictionaries, or more recently directly from corpora, in a specific lexicographic project: the upcoming Latvian-Czech dictionary. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part will contain an introduction to the issues of corpus linguistics in Latvia and Czech Republic, a description of sources, a description of the material base (four different materials - two printed sources, two electronic sources) and a comparison of the current situation in corpus linguistics / lexicography in Latvia and the Czech Republic. The second, practical part is focused on the application of the obtained data and their description. An inseparable part of the practical part is the presentation of the obtained data together with a sample dictionary entry. The aim is to provide the user with a more specific idea of the form of entries in the Latvian-Czech translation dictionary and to offer the possibility of application in other lexicographic projects. Latvian feast "Jáni"

This diploma work is the result of the analytical comparison of mostly written and partly also sourced documents in the meaning of diachronic knowledge and at the same time synchronic even though not really terrain research of Latvian John (Jáni) and Czech St. John the Baptiste (Jan Křtitel) holiday. The way of the processing and the interpretation mostly participates on the ethnological study of verb folklore and changes of ethnocultural traditions of new-age Latvian and Czech nations. Respectively it deals with Central European cultural heritage of both nations, even despite the condition that the generally acknowledged definition of "a nation" is currently non-existent. It was the utmost interest in the folklore that influenced my choice of firstly the bachelor and also the progressive work. The transmission of sociocultural phenomena and manifests of culture of single persons, local society and interest groups are connected with folklore and have their place in the national cultural life. These aims were fulfilled primarily by nationally oriented emancipation of Czech lands, the process connected with social cultural romanticism as from the end of 18th century, so called "national revival". Contribution of Fricis Brīvzemnieks to the Latvian-Russian Cultural Relations

This bachelor's thesis deals with an issue of the dialogue of the Latvian and Russian cultures in a situation, when Latvian territory was the part of the Russian empire. The purpose of this work is to analyze materials that are related to the activities of the important representative of the Young Latvian movement, folklorist, ethnologist, publicist and litterateur Fricis Brīvzemnieks in Russia in the years 1867-1887. His activity is set within the wider context of the Latvian National Revival in the second half of the 19th century, with the special reference to the Latvian-Russian cultural relations in this period.
