Presentism - the challenge of the school history teaching

(in English): The thesis deals with the issue of presentism, which is a current topic of academic debates at many levels. In the first part of the thesis the author sheds light on the complexity of the debate and introduces definitions of presentism. The topic is studied from a didactic perspective and it is examined at the level of practical manifestations in historical thinking. The research is based on the examination of school exercises and observation of the manifestations of presentism through new media, specifically TV series. The author asks whether (and in what forms) presentism manifests itself in TV series and whether (and in what forms) it manifests itself at the level of pupils' historical literacy. Furthermore, the thesis addresses the issue of the connection between the two levels of manifestations of presentism, and whether the influence of TV series on pupils' historical thinking can be identified. Methodologically, the thesis is inspired by contemporary didactic theory, especially the concepts of historical thinking, and also takes into account historiographical works that deal with the issue of time perception.
