Position of Ireland after financial and debt crisis
Šišková, Dominika ; Hnát, Pavel (advisor) ; Fialová, Barbora (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the development of the Irish economy since the end of 1980S until today. The aim is to learn to what extent the financial and debt crisis that hit Ireland in 2008 came to influence foreign direct investment flows. The thesis will focus more specifically on the resulting changes in investment conditions. The first part of the thesis will take up the sharp upswing in the Irish economy in the 1990s and its equally positive aftermath in the years thereafter, as manifested in various macroeconomic indicators. The second part will discuss the beginnings and the evolution of the Irish financial crisis that in due course led to the country's debt crisis, and will raise the various measures taken to save the national economy. The last and third part of the thesis will focus on the present situation in Ireland, including a comparison with the situation before the crisis. A general conclusion of the thesis will be that the Irish economy now seems to have regained a certain stability, with inward direct investment almost back to pre-crisis levels.
