The Master Thesis The depiction of events in Ukraine on photographs - ethical aspects of depicting conflict presents a case study focused on depiction of Ukrainian crisis in photographs during a defined period of time of 2014 in five Czech and five foreign newspapers. The first part of the thesis introduces the theoretical concepts that are the basis for the analysis. The analytical part presents the research of depiction of the Ukrainian events in news photographs in the daily newspapers using the technique of content picture analysis. The results let us compare the differences between the approach of the individual Czech and foreign newspapers to the issue of publishing graphic images of violence and its victims. Women photojournalists in the czech media

This thesis aims to describe the role of women in photojournalism who managed to reach success also among their men colleagues and became significant personalities of photojournalism. The first chapter deals with the historical context of involvement of women in the news photography since the ever first published pictures in the press, through the most important events of the past centuries up till today, where contemporary women photojournalists of the world are introduced. While doing research about women involvement in the media, it became apparent that a significant inequality remains in the percentage of employees that women represent in newsrooms altogether and their number in the photo- divisions themselves where there are only few women photo-reporters. The aim of my thesis thus is to find the reason for this phenomenon on the basis of deep-reaching interviews that I had with three important women photo-reporters that work in the Czech media sphere. These are Nguyen Phuong Thao, Alžběta Jungrová and Kateřina Šulová whom, as well as their work, I introduce in my thesis.
