Sustainable urban neighbourhood design of a Czech city
Faryová, Markéta ; Řehák, Filip (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of the master's thesis was to propose a solution for the current urban structure, based on the principles of economic, social, and environmental sustainability – the urban vision of the city of Břeclav. The defined area is bordered by 1. máje street and the embankment of the relief arm of the Dyje river; to the east, it neighbors the historical center, and to the south, residential buildings and a hospital. Various types of buildings are found in this area: supermarkets, storage facilities, industrial complexes, residential buildings etc. However, the density of development is not high. Residential buildings within the defined area are preserved. Buildings unsuitable for the central part of the city due to their character, design, or scale will be replaced or relocated to a more suitable location. The newly proposed structure represents a compact part of the city, mainly comprising urban blocks typical of urban space. It also responds to the surrounding existing development, connecting the older and newer parts of the city. A part of the proposal involves making accessible and integrating parts of the millrace into the public space as a significant element of Břeclav's identity, which abounds in natural wealth. Together with other principles, emphasis was placed on creating a space for people that serves as a home, workplace, meeting point, and living space.

The task of the thesis was to create a new urban structure in the city of Breclav. The area in the project is located along the 1st May Avenue, which is a congested traffic route of the municipality. The area contains disparate buildings, industrial buildings and brownfield areas. The task of the work was to conceptually design the entire city with an emphasis on the selected location of the new urban district. The proposal creates a new compact block development that will compact the core of the dispersed city. The focus of the design is on increasing temperature conditions, the creation of new housing opportunities and the connection of the designed area with the nearby surroundings separated by barriers. The design also addresses wider urban connectivity, creating alternative routes for congested arterial traffic and complementing existing urban amenities.

Kudelová, Aneta ; Řehák, Filip (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis, entitled Aquatic centre, deals with the design of a three-story building for water sports activities. The site of the proposed building is located in the city district of Brno - Pisárky on the land of the former wastewater treatment plant, on whose existing reinforced concrete structure it is also designed. The building consists of one underground and two above-ground floors. The building includes a pool hall with a 50-meter swimming pool, a whirlpool, a non-swimming pool and a children's pool. A wellness center with a small fitness facility is planned on the second floor. There are eight saunas in the wellness area, two of which are steam, three whirlpools and two cooling pools. Two of these hot tubs and one cooling pool are designed in the spaces of the outdoor terrace. These facilities are connected by a central cloakroom. The building also includes spaces for the clubhouse of the rowing club and a storage room for canoes. The structure of the building is divided into two parts: a wooden structure made of slatted beams and columns for the pool hall and a reinforced concrete skeleton structure with perimeter reinforced concrete walls for the rest of the building. The roof is an L-shaped counter with a vegetation layer. In the middle of the building there is an outdoor atrium, also with a vegetation layer. Most of the building, apart from the glass facades, is covered by an external metal facade with added vegetation.

The proposed buildings relate to existing buildings on the east and west banks of the Svitava River. They have the form of four to six storey blocks, which are characteristic for this area. The park connects to the revitalized eastern embankment of the river at the site of a new footbridgethat connects both rive sides and stairs. They provide space formeetings and relaxation, but also serve as a flood control in the event of a water inflow. Brno waterfront - rehabilitation of rivers and their surrounding areas
Manclová, Miroslava ; Řehák, Filip (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The theme of the work is revitalisation of the Brno rivers, specifically the river Svitava. The main idea of the work is the understanding the river as a city-building element, as a place of potential that every city should fully utilize. People like to spend their free time at the water and such a space should satisfy their needs. The river flows smoothly throught the city, and people should be able to move freely around it. In the ideal case, it should be a green path across urban area. The solved territory is situated in the Brno-Zábrdovice district, which hasn´t ideal reputation. Its image is shaped by, among others, industrial areas which are quite often derelict. My task was to correctly distribute one of these sites, which is located near the Zábrdovice Monastery. The solved territory is currently a non-coherent and inconsistent structure that does not support the image of the site. The river is completely supressed at this point and the movement around it is very limited. In my design I tried to create a place that would offer a lot of activities through the day. I have modified the functions I have in the territory and supported by my proposal to form a working entity together. In such a territory will meet people, who work or live here, who are using the services or come to sport or spend their free time in the pleasant environment of Svitava river.

The proposal respects the character of the place trying to prefer pedestrian and cycling – pedestrian zones, cycling zones. The concept is based on the maximum use of built-up areas in the designed area and on the permeability of the entire area, the interconnection of three squares and the creation of a new public space. Furthermore, the concept responds to the historical city center and the chateau hill - views, perspective axes. Newly designed buildings are residential buildings with active parterres, administrative building for research and development, multi-purpose hall, retirement home, kindergarten, federal house and parking house. The new development clearly defines the street network. Part of the design is the planting of a park under the chateau hill with the revival of the trough of the Plhovsky´s stream.
