Regulace a úloha insulin-like peptidů u klíštěte \kur{Ixodes ricinus}
VÁCHALOVÁ, Michaela
In the tick Ixodes ricinus, which belongs to the Ixodidae family, insulin-like peptides (ILPs) are crucial regulators involved in blood-feeding and digestion. This bachelor thesis investigated the expression profiles of four ILPs in different blood-feeding stages and various tick tissues. RNA interference (RNAi) was employed to silence the expression of each ILP, and the subsequent effects on female tick phenotype were analysed. Silencing ILP4 expression resulted in a significant decrease in female survival rate (by 80%) during blood-feeding on a host. This suggests that ILP4 plays an essential role in, for example, blood meal digestion or physiological processes vital for blood-feeding success.
