Electric power generator with steam engine
Marčík, Silvestr ; Foral, Štěpán (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
My bachelor thesis is focused on design and production of power generator driven by single-acting piston steam engine. Thesis includes introduction into the issue of steam engines and their history and it describes construction of their individual elements. The next part of the thesis describes manufacturing process of electrical and mechanical components and their optimization for given system. Thesis also includes research and development of new components of the steam engine in order to increase its efficiency and it describes possibilities of using the energy for small applications. The result of the thesis is a measurement and commissioning of the entire system. In conclusion achieved results and options of modification of steam power generators are discussed.
Operating Characteristics of LED Sources
Brdečko, Aleš ; Diviš, Daniel (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
This semester thesis is dealing with issues of LED (light emiting diod). In the text we can find general summary knowledges about LED, relating their history, construction, principle of working and also treatise about of semiconductor compounds. In thesis are given examples of use indicating their advantages and disadvantages and indicating their parameters. The practical content of this thesis is evaluation of measurement performed on some samples of LED especially graphics addiction of crosses and V-A characteristics measured in addiction on current.
Glare measurement with a luminance analyser
Kalfus, Petr ; Baxant, Petr (referee) ; Škoda, Jan (advisor)
One of the basic parameters of any lighting is the quality of the illumination design, and how it glares. This paper deals with glare and its evaluation. The basic variables used in its evaluation are described. Methods of evaluating internal glare using various indexes are described. Methods of evaluating glare from daylight and evaluating glare of outdoor systems are also described. The principle of operation of luminance analysers is then described and the school LDA luminance analyser that will be used for the measurements is described. The indoor glare measurements made are described, manually evaluated and calculated and compared with the new automated calculation in the lumiDISP program. The daylight glare and outdoor glare measurements are also described, evaluated and compared with the new automated calculation. Finally, the possibility of measuring glare with a luminance analyser is summarised and the accuracy of the new lumiDISP functions is evaluated
Use of Hollow Light Guides for Illumination
Zajíček, Josef ; Ing. Stanislav Darula,CSc. (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
This master’s thesis describes the using of hollow light guides for inner-space lightning. The project describes the legislation requirements for the inner-space day lightning. The usages of hollow light guides are also discussed. Other goal of the project is to describe computer programs, which are modeling the function of hollow light guides. The practical part of the thesis is describing the process and the results of the measuring, which was done on a model of a family house with hollow light guides.
Experimental Agrophotovoltaic System
Krnáč, Štefan ; Paar, Martin (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
Agrophotovoltaics is a hot topic not only in the field of agroculture but also in field of EE using renewable sources. This work summarizes human impact on the environment, possible remediation with help of AFV, projects already implemented by companies abroad and their knowledge of the use and development of AFV systems. The work also mentions advantages and disadvantages that could arise if we began to use these systems in Czech Republic and Slovakia. The last chapter contains already functional APV project, which we built on top of the roof of building T12.
Electric vehicles as energy storage element with renewable energy sources
Janečka, Jaromír ; Horák,, Bohumil (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
This master thesis summarizes history of electric vehicles from its inception to present. Vehicles are divided into three groups according to the type of drive, special attention is paid to electric vehicles. Furthermore, typical ways of electric energy storage are presented, especially in the form of electrochemical cells, which are used in electric vehicles. The thesis also describes the situation of electromobility in the Czech Republic, namely government support, distribution companies tariffs, charging infrastructure and available electric vehicles. Finally, the concept of connecting electric vehicles to renewable energy source is described, with financial calculations for three profiled drivers.
Innovation and Extension of Solar Concentrator system
Vasyliev, Mykola ; Radil, Lukáš (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the innovation and expansion of the solar concentrator system, which was originally created by Robert Hrachiar in 2016 [1]. The description and implementation of the concentrator system is given in the bachelor's thesis entitled Solar applications with concentrator elements. The bachelor thesis contains a description of basic knowledge for the operation of a solar concentrator system, analysis of the original project, identification of deficiencies and the relevant improvement of the concentrator system. The advantages of solar energy over other alternative energy sources and the principle of operation of solar systems with separate mirrors are described in the theoretical part. The analysis of the project and the identification of deficiencies in the section described the identified deficiencies that arose during 2 years of operation of the solar system. Investigation of the causes of deficiencies and negative consequences. The Modernization section contains a description of the relevant improvement of the concentrator system based on the identified shortcomings, innovation and expansion based on the experience of using a similar system in the country and in the world.
Proposal for power consumption optimization of photovoltaic power plant
Mareček, Jan ; Radil, Lukáš (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
This master’s thesis is focused on opportunities of optimization of electric power consumption from photovoltaic power plant. In theoretical part are presented basic principles and possibilities of photovoltaic system connection. It continues with an overview of backup systems and types of batteries. Practical part is about prediction of production and consumption of electric power, possibilities of power management and optimization. Next chapter deals with battery life cycle and their suitability for photovoltaic system. The last part of this thesis is the quantification of the stored electric energy economic value.
LED lamps clasification regarding voltage flicker sensitivity
Štefek, Roman ; Baxant, Petr (referee) ; Drápela, Jiří (advisor)
The master's thesis deals with the design and time optimization of the method designed to determine the classification of LED lamps due to their resistance to power supply fluctuations. Classification of LED lamps in the classification scale and their labelling by the classification index is the task of informing in a simple way those interested in the ability of a concrete light source to function properly, without disturbing flickering, in conditions of electromagnetic interference.
Biomass for power plants in the off-grid operation
Roule, Jaroslav ; Radil, Lukáš (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
The thesis discusses the use of biomass for electricity island operation. The first chapter explains the concept of biomass and its distribution. It also shows the potential and availability of biomass. The second chapter describes the transformation of biomass into a suitable fuel form. The third to fifth chapter describes the conversion of biomass as a fuel into electrical energy through combustion, Stirling and steam engine. In these chapters there are brought the following parameters and prices of these motors and single-phase and three-phase alternators that can be connected to these engines. Other chapters describe the production of electricity in line with consumption, where the cost per hour to run engines for the various types of fuel and price of the electricity produced in kilowatt hours is calculated. In the last chapter of the thesis there is described the possibility of accumulation of electrical energy.
