The successful strategic plans
Lněnička, Marek ; Perlín, Radim (advisor) ; Šustrová, Klára (referee)
Strategic planning is a very suitable method to effectively manage long-term development of the area. A lot of strategic documents have been made in recent years. There are strategic plans of counties, micro-regions, towns, even larger villages, but unfortunately they are not realized. The aim of my work is not to find out why most of the strategic plans are unsuccessful, but why chosen towns (Dobříš and Vodňany) are such successful in realization of the plans. The information about the process of the strategic planning was acquired from the formal interviews with the processors of the strategic plans, with the mayor or deputy mayor of both towns. There is described the whole process of the strategic planning, from the initial idea to prepare strategic plan until the process of creating the plan, its evaluation, monitoring and updating. Text is supplemented with the ideas and insights of processors, mayors, deputy mayors and authors of a literature dealing with the topic. At the very end are summarized main reasons why strategic planning of these cities successful. Keywords: strategic plannig, city, community method of planning

Rybářová, Hana ; Perlín, Radim (advisor) ; Szczyrba, Zdeněk (referee)
The Master thesis aims to analyse the role of cross border projects in the development of the Jesenicko region. The main research question is whether the cross border projects trigger the development of cross border networks of cooperation as well as whether the projects contribute to the socioeconomic development of the model region. The experience from well- established cross border regions in Western Europe indicates that overcoming "soft barriers" such as trust and prejudice among inhabitants from border areas is problematic but necessary for the overall integration of the region. Therefore, the situation along the Czech and Polish border is to be examined. Methodology of the thesis is framed by the inductive approach and is of an interpretative character. The main research method of the thesis is a multiple case study. The significant advantage of this method is that it allows analysing the collected data within the wider framework of region as well as its exploratory character helps to understand the factors determining the success of the projects. The analytical framework is based on the institutional theories of regional development as well as on the concepts of Czech Human Geography. Based on the findings, it is concluded that the cross border projects help to build the common trust in the studied...

Perlín, Radim ; Bičík, Ivan (advisor) ; Anděl, Jiří (referee) ; Vaishar, Antonín (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Science Department of Social Geography and Regional Development Radim Perlín Instruments for the Development of Rural Municipalities Summary Prague 2010 Gradual change in the functional utilisation of rural space is characteristic of the second half of the twentieth century. The original agrarian function of rural areas is losing its significance and rural areas and municipalities, along with their residents, are subsequently seeking new roles within society's division of functions. Following increases in rural population during the second half of the nineteenth century, caused by the demographic revolution, a portion of the economically active residents of rural areas emigrated over the next several decades, contributing to the rapid population growth of cities. Decreases in family size represent a consequence of the departure of a portion of rural inhabitants. Korčák studied the initial phases of these processes back in 1929. After World War II and in connection with the necessity to ensure food security and sufficient volume of agricultural production, the Common Agricultural Policy was formulated within the emerging European community as one of the first joint policies. It focuses primarily on ensuring sufficient income for agricultural workers, in the midst of...

The cooperative mechanism is one of possible ways for small municipalities to solve problems resulting from their limited financial, material and human resources. The cooperation with neighbouring municipalities or other actors of spatial development allows them to realize projects and activities, that they otherwise could not realize themselves because of the costs or spatial extent of the project or activity beyond their territory. The main objective of the thesis is to classify several types of the cooperation in rural region and to apply these classifications to the model region. First the fundamental theoretical background and external and internal factors affecting the cooperation of municipalities are discussed. Further several classifications of the cooperation were compiled based on theoretical findings and recent research results. The first two initial hypotheses of the thesis were confirmed within the selected rural municipalities in the region of the Bohemian Paradise: The formality of the cooperation is growing, respectively its intensity is decreasing according to growing...
