Jan Deyl's Conservatiore and the High School for Visualy Impaired and Employment of his Graduates in their Profession
Červený, Jiří ; Palkovská, Jana (advisor) ; Gregor, Vít (referee)
This thesis is loosely based on the author's previous bachelor thesis, which dealt with beginnings of a systematic care for the blind in the Czech lands in the early 19th century and with development of this care during the 19th and the following centuries. It described the foundation of the current School of Jaroslav Ježek in the Loretánská street in Prague 1, the establishment of the so called Klárův ústav in Prague 4 and of the Jan Deyl Conservatory and Secondary School for the Visually Impaired on Maltese square in Prague 1. The essential part of this work was the tribute to the personality of PhDr. Jan Drtina, who was a pianist, a music educator and for a long period the director of the Jan Deyl Conservatory and Secondary School for the Visually Impaired. The main part of this thesis is a testimony of selected graduates of the Jan Deyl Conservatory and Secondary School for the Visually Impaired who are from different generations and who have various degrees of their visual handicap. This work focuses on their childhood, studies and especially on their employment. Furthermore, this thesis covers attitudes and opinions of former administration members of this special school. The work also informs about the current trend of the integrative education of visually impaired. The attachments describe primarily...
Marian Songs of Sepekov
Farová, Marie ; Stříteská, Leona (advisor) ; Palkovská, Jana (referee)
The Marian songs of Sepekov is the title for a handwritten Hymnal, which nobody comprehensivly examined and never publish. I discovered this manuscript when I was researching materials for my Bacherol thesis. The hymnal contains 489 czech-language pages from which I composed 43 songs with the organs accompaniment or songs in a four-part adjustment. The transcript od melodic line, next processing of melody and composition of polyphony give the readers an insight into the period of the formation of manuscript and it zooms miracles for which the manuscript was created. The historical events, which were accured in 18th century in Sepekov and were an integral part of the life of people from sepekov, are component of Marian songs. The whole Hymnal is built on devotion, supplication, prayers and the love of the pilgrims to Pana Marie from Sepekov. The pilgrimages, which they performed to this marian's place, were a seal of approval of their belief and it was culmination of their spiritual life for most of them.

Piano in Contemporary Albanian Music
Prifti, Egli ; Nedělka, Michal (advisor) ; Palkovská, Jana (referee) ; Kusák, Jiří (referee)
This dissertation deals with comprehensive analysis of contemporary Albanian piano pieces. There have been selected compositions with artistic and educational value for these purposes. The pieces also represent different genres of Albanian piano music. Genres are exceptionally important in this view; the stylish range was reduced, in recent past. The reason was based not on cultural field, but on strict ideological rules. Piano music is embedded in a broader historical context that allows to stress the peculiarities of the Albanian musical language and thereby to clarify the uniqueness and value of selected compositions for the educational needs. Keywords Piano; album, folk-music; neoclassical style; analysis; pedagogical interpretation

International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition and Chopin Festival in Mariánské Lázně The annual Chopin festival in Mariánské Lázně is an event of a supreme significance. Its dramaturgy and diverse selection of performers bring the listeners an interesting and extraordinary experience of Chopin's music. Chopin Festival is one of our most treasured cultural events. It became a meeting point for artists from all over the world, but the core group consists of Polish interpreters, mostly laureates of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. Besides the time-proven compositions, the organizers include some infrequently played and unknown pieces, the works of Czech and foreign composers or contemporary artists. They also attracted the audience by inviting popular performers, amateur ensembles, holding golf and tennis tournaments, exhibitions or film projections. Lately, the festival has been getting back to its traditional image and the purpose of celebrating Chopin's music. The piano competition, interpreter seminars and musicologist seminars are still a part of the event. The Chopin Festival is the only one in Czech that has been listed by UNESCO and is widely popular. It is necessary to point out the efforts and credit of the main organizers, the Fryderyk Chopin Society in Mariánské...
