Rubášová, Eva ; Kalina, Kamil (advisor) ; Libra, Jiří (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of abstinence and controlled drug use in former long- term users of illegal drugs who have terminated their drug use or made significant changes to their hitherto lifestyle while not being aided by an institutional or residential therapy. When it comes to the process of rehabilitation, the addiction and illegal substance abuse syndrome is associated with therapy conducted in brick-and-mortar institutions that specialize in the treatment of drug addiction. Research studies concerned with significant regulation or termination of drug use in long-time abusers broaden the little explored area that the self- regulated, minimum support transition is (abstinence, abuse control). A case study of long- term drug users presents a hands-on example of the possibility to achieve transitive change without the need to be stationed in an institutional facility. It also accentuates interpersonal differences, which are essential in the process of indication, diagnosis, and recommendation, according to addiction specialists. In particular, the study points out intervention possibilities of the low-threshold center, which constitute the default program that is employed when the client refuses professional help of any other sort. From the perspective of the bio-psycho-...

Charles University in Prague First Faculty of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, Center for Addictology Abstract of the bachelor work Name: Alexandra Tomková Specialization: Adiktologie Matriculation year: 2007 Supervisor: Mgr. Aleš Kuda. Opponent: Doc. MUDr. PhDr. Kamil Kalina, CSc. Pages: 61 The title of the bachelor work: Psychotherapeutic Use of Altered States of Consciousness in the Addiction Treatment Abstract: The desire to reach altered states of consciousness is a natural human feature, which we can find trough the history, various cultures and among drug users as well. The intention to get the altered states of consciousness and having a spiritual expirience is one of the reasons why they are using drugs and afterwards they develop addiction. Spirituality is on of the relevant part of the bio-psycho- sociospiritual model of addiction and it is important not to forget about it in the addiction treatment and even in the prevention of addictive behaviour. This essay is based on study of academic texts. I chose the most relevant examples, which already has been revealed in available academic literature. The other source of information was the personal interview with Dr. Stanislav Kudrle, who organized sessions of holotropic breathing in therapautic community Němčice (Czech republic). Mladá, Kateřina ; Kalina, Kamil (advisor) ; Reichelová, Lenka (referee)
The bachelor thesis has these targets: (1) to demonstrate that the misuse of Suboxone also occurs in the Czech Republic; (2) to question the common myth that Suboxone cannot be applied in an i.v. form, and (3) to disclose some circumstances of Suboxone misuse ( e.g. if the i.v. application of Suboxone has any aversive effect; if the clients are able to prevent this kind of effect; to what change in the client's life the Suboxone use or misuse can lead , the availability of Suboxone in the black market, demand of this substance in the black market, etc.). The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical parts, and subsequent discussion and conclusion. The theoretic part presents essentials on substitution programmes, information on the substitution substance Suboxone, and the introduction of the treatment centre where I collected data for my thesis (specialized out-patient programme CADAS). References to the recent research studies on this topic are also mentioned. The practical part includes two case studies of the clients who both misuse Suboxone in an i.v. form, and subsequent comparison of those case studies based on the set criteria. Through the case studies and the comparison of them the determined research questions should have been answered. The discussion and the conclusion are oriented...
Development and maintenance of addictive behaviour in terms of psychoanalysis
Tomášková, Eva ; Hajný, Martin (referee) ; Kalina, Kamil (advisor)
In the area of addictive behaviour, psychoanalytic approaches are very often criticized or completely neglected. Nevertheless they could significantly contribute to the treatment of addictions, especially in its final stage. Their main contribution is in searching for origins and causes of the addiction. In the therapy they could help to reveal inner conflicts and traumas, and to facilitate their understanding and acceptance. The main aim of my thesis is to illustrate the contribution of psychoanalytic approaches in the treatment of addiction. Furthermore an effort is made to point out, that if the psychotherapy is enriched by psychoanalysis, and further criteria are fulfilled, the treatment can acquire a deeper meaning, and the probability of its efficiency increases. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part presents an overview of psychoanalytical theories of the origin and development of addiction. It describes some features of the addicted people from the psychoanalytical point of view and the part is completed by necessary critical evaluation. The empirical part contains a case study of a woman who is addicted to alcohol. On her case I try to illustrate the psychoanalytical views of on the rise and development of addictive behaviour. Data are obtained from...
