Conception of Piano Pedagogy in Lisbon

My thesis is based on my studies in Lisbon (Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa), I bring deeper insight into the Portuguese piano pedagogy in the territory of Lisbon. The work is based on the system of Portuguese music education and describes the significant educational institutions of music. Piano pedagogy is defined in the historical development well - founded on available literature, more attention is given to some important personalities of teachers and composers in the field of piano music. Part of the work is dedicated to my personal reflection of Portuguese piano pedagogy and my own experiences with teachers, especially consultations with professor Miguel Henriques, who summarized pedagogical principles in his book The (Well) Informed Piano. Piano trio in the context of its historical, musical and interpretational development

This diploma work aims to map to some depth the history of piano trio, to introduce the reader to individual pieces for this arrangement, to present the origins and fortunes of the leading Czech and international ensembles, and to compare their way of interpretation. In the first part of this document we will take a look at the absolute beginnings of chamber music and later development of this musical segment. We will concentrate on the history of the trio, developed from trio sonata that become the principal chamber type during baroque. At the turn of 18th and 19th century we can see its present form. It became one of the most popular musical forms, taking an important place in the work of all four "Viennese classics". We can find some occasional piano trios from Haydn and Mozart, composed primarily for the purpose of private conduction of music. Piano trios of L. v. Beethoven and F. Schubert however present a decisive step in the direction of artistic originality. Mature work of these authors represents zenith of the genre, successfully maintained later on by Schumann, Brahms, Dvořák, Smetana and other romantic representatives, who were using the form as ideal means to convey the most internal of their feelings. Clara Schumann. The woman, the artist, the teacher

My thesis concerns the life of Clara Schumann (1819 - 1896), a major German concert pianist of the 19th century. It includes a list of her compositions and it describes her activities in piano pedagogy. Through the life of this extraordinary woman, her friends and contemporaries, the thesis provides deeper insights into the overall musical atmosphere of the 19th century. The thesis illuminates the importace of Clara Schumann and her lasting influence on European pianism.
Musical culture in Cyprus with a focus on the piano works and piano pedagogy

The diploma thesis deals with the Cypriot music culture and mainly focuses on piano education and piano works. The aim of this work was to introduce the main representatives of Cypriot classical music, the music life on Cyprus and the history of piano education until the present day. A part of the work is also a personal research, carried out by a questionnaire, and a didactic and interpretive insight on the fundamental instructive work Kinderlaunen of the Cypriot pianist and composer Nicolas Economou. The work is divided into six chapters, which draw information from accessible literature and mainly from a research made in this field. The six chapters could be notionally divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the music history of the island by introducing distinctive personalities of the Cypriot classical music and by mapping the music life on Cyprus. Furthermore, this part deals with the Cypriot music education system and the teaching methods in piano education. The practical part contains the analysis and results of the submitted questionnaire and the didactic and interpretive insight on the instructive piano work of the earlier mentioned Cypriot pianist and composer. Music at the Chatéau Sychrov

The aim of the thesis is to introduce the musical life at the Chatéau Sychrov and chart the music events since the history after the music events taking place in the present. Althought the musical life at the Cahtéau Sychrov is abundant. That is in the way of the history as well the way of the present, there is no study, or thesis, which would be dedicated to this issue. The intention of the thesis is to fill this vacancy and introduce the musical life at the Chatéau Sychrov in the context. Thesis is stated by the characteristic of the Chatéau Sychrov and it's general history. There is introduced musical instruments found at the Chatéau, I deal with Antonín Dvořák's journeys, who visited the Chatéau regulerly, peaces he composed there and his legacy, for ex. Choir Antonín Dvořák and Antonín Dvořák's festival. Then is introduced the musical life at the Chatéau in the present. Jan Deyl's Conservatiore and the High School for Visualy Impaired and Employment of his Graduates in their Profession

This thesis is loosely based on the author's previous bachelor thesis, which dealt with beginnings of a systematic care for the blind in the Czech lands in the early 19th century and with development of this care during the 19th and the following centuries. It described the foundation of the current School of Jaroslav Ježek in the Loretánská street in Prague 1, the establishment of the so called Klárův ústav in Prague 4 and of the Jan Deyl Conservatory and Secondary School for the Visually Impaired on Maltese square in Prague 1. The essential part of this work was the tribute to the personality of PhDr. Jan Drtina, who was a pianist, a music educator and for a long period the director of the Jan Deyl Conservatory and Secondary School for the Visually Impaired. The main part of this thesis is a testimony of selected graduates of the Jan Deyl Conservatory and Secondary School for the Visually Impaired who are from different generations and who have various degrees of their visual handicap. This work focuses on their childhood, studies and especially on their employment. Furthermore, this thesis covers attitudes and opinions of former administration members of this special school.
