Characteristic Piston Ring Failures and Their Corrective Methods
Orság, Josef ; Knotek, Jiří (referee) ; Raffai, Peter (advisor)
This Bachelor's thesis concerns the most common failures of piston rings. The first part of this thesis focuses on the design of a piston ring and on the load affecting it. The second part describes various kinds of lubrication. This section also shows, which lubrication states occur during operation of internal combustion engines. And final part is devoted to the most common failures of the piston rings and how to prevent them.
Modern Turbocharger Rotor Supports
Kortán, Daniel ; Raffai, Peter (referee) ; Knotek, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the options of impositions of turbocharger rotors. The first part focuses on the construction of turbochargers and description of the principle of turbocharging engines with internal combustion. The second part focuses on the description of the construction of rolling and sliding bearings and explanation of options the particular types of impositions used in turbochargers nowadays.
Noise impact of combustion engine exhaust systems
Ptáček, Petr ; Knotek, Jiří (referee) ; Zubík, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis is focused on creating a research study about noise of combustion engine exhaust systems. Introducing of this work coves all parts of common exhaust systems while mostly focused on silencers. It further describes several methods of measuring the noise established by legislation and at its end it deals with a noise impact of exhaust system treatments.
Locomotive power transmission
Svoboda, Petr ; Knotek, Jiří (referee) ; Zubík, Martin (advisor)
The work describes the specific conditions for transmission devices in railway operations. It includes the description, distinction and comparison of power-transfering possibilities from the rail vehicle's combustion engine to the propelled chassis.
Modern Trends in Construction of Journal Bearing used in Turbochargers
Dobrovolný, Ondřej ; Zubík, Martin (referee) ; Knotek, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the theme the modern trends in the design of bearings for turbochargers. The work is divided into three chapters. The first chapter describes the history, principles and construction of turbochargers. The second chapter attends to the theory of sliding bearings and their function. The third chapter deals with bearings used in turbochargers.
Turbocharger Rotor Balancing
Šárovec, Marek ; Zubík, Martin (referee) ; Knotek, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis is specialized search dealing with issues of turbocharger rotor balancing. This work is divided into three main parts. First part deals with history of turbocharger and basics of turbocharger construction. Second part talks about types of unbalance and how to balance. Also, there is description of balancing machines. Last part depends on previous part because there is application of balancing on automotive turbocharger.
High Speed Revolution Slide Bearings
Růžička, Stanislav ; Knotek, Jiří (referee) ; Maršálek, Ondřej (advisor)
Bachelor project analyzes the use of high-speed plain bearings in turbocharged internal combustion engines equipped with turbochargers. The first part is devoted to a general description of turbochargers for internal combustion engines. Their function, design of the device itself as well as the individual components, the possible ways to control the supercharging. The main part analyzes the calculation of plain bearings in practice.
Adjustment and modification made to the serially produced combustion engine to get an engine for racing purposes
Závodný, Tomáš ; Knotek, Jiří (referee) ; Maršálek, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis analyses the modification of the serially produced combustion engine to get an engine for racing purposes. The first part is conceived as searching and is focused on why this serially produced engine was modified to racing engine and which adjustments were made on this naturally aspirated engine. Another part was dedicated to design simulation in the software ADAMS MD R3 and the results of these simulations were processed and evaluated. Conclusion contains a comparison of the results from the software and results from an actual engine dynamometer, and what is the overall success of the project in real life.
Application of anti-friction bearings for four-stroke internal combustion engines
Knotek, Jiří ; Svída, David (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This thesis is concerned with the anti-friction bearings and their application in the construction of the four-stroke cycle internal combustion engine. Thesis consists of several parts. The first one is concerned with the anti-friction bearings themselves. This part provides basics of theory of the anti-friction bearings needed in the next parts. In the next part is described the use of the anti-friction bearings in the internal combustion engine. Last part is concerned with the use of the anti-friction bearings in the construction of the four-stroke cycle internal combustion engine. There is described mounting of crankshaft, connecting rod, camshaft, balancer shaft and turbocharger.
Management of reservoir sediments, sediment washing and reuse
Vrzák, J. ; Knotek, J. ; Borovec, Jakub ; Dadejík, M. ; Krist, P.
This article is primarily intended to introduce to the expert public, especially the operators of waterworks, the new procedures for the management of sediments in water reservoirs. These include the identification of sediments, their localization, extraction, and transformation, as well as options for the sediment washing and their possible subsequent use. Presented techniques aim to find an economically feasible management solution for reservoirs affected by deteriorated water quality - cyanobacteria./nIn the years 2012 – 2014, a research project entitled “VVIF/nResearch of washing processes in dam sediments” has been conducted. One of the objectives of the project was to find suitable methods for locating the dam sediment, sampling and identification of its material composition, which is an essential prerequisite for the selection of environmentally friendly and economically efficient processes and procedures, from preparation/nto implementation of the project. Another of the key objectives was the design and test of the process of sediment washing into primary components, with/nthe option of their reuse, or the transformation process of the whole sediment inside or outside of the reservoir.
