Characterization of Submicron Aerosol in Prague by Combined ME-2 Factor Analysis of AMS Data
Makeš, Otakar ; Vodička, Petr ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Ždímal, Vladimír
Real-time measurement of submicron aerosol particles was performed at Prague – Suchdol site (Czech Republic) during six weeks long summer and winter campaigns in 2012-2013. Highly time and size resolved data were obtained from measurements carried out by a Compact Time-of-Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (C-ToF-AMS, Aerodyne). The retrieved data were analyzed with using the So-Fi graphical user interface which is developed by Paul Scherrer Institute (Canonaco, 2013) and is running under IGOR software (WaveMetrics). The preliminary results are presented in this abstract.

Highly Time-Resolved Aerosol Measurement at a Suburban Site in Prague
Kubelová, Lucie ; Vodička, Petr ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Makeš, Otakar ; Ždímal, Vladimír
Highly time-resolved measurements of atmospheric aerosols are important as they enable us to elucidate the aerosol sources and lifecycle processes (Zhang, 2011). In our study we carried out two six-week measurements of submicron fraction of nonrefractory atmospheric aerosol. The measurement was performed with 1-minute resolution and analysed with respect to influence of meteorological conditions. The measurement was done as a part of a pan-European project ACTRIS.

Software Process Improvement in Very Small Entities Using the ISO/IEC 29110 Standard
Vodička, Petr ; Buchalcevová, Alena (advisor) ; Mittner, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on software process improvement in very small entities. It contains description of benefits that can be achieved by implementing such improvements. The focus is on the use of the fairly new ISO/IEC 29110 international standard and the basic profile of ISO/IEC 29110 standard for software engineering in particular. The standard is also suitable for use in system engineering. However, such application is not discussed within this diploma thesis. The aim of the work was to promote dissemination of information regarding said standard in the Czech Republic. The thesis, therefore, describes advantages of conforming to the standard and issues that the standard deals with. Thus, the attractiveness of the standard for very small entities is expected to increase. Furthermore, the thesis describes the importance of centers (organizations) providing support for very small entities. These centers are dedicated to spreading information about the standard and helping VSEs with the implementation of ISO/IEC 29110 into practice. The possibility of creation of such center in the Czech Republic is discussed in the thesis. A description for the center is provided designed based on information about similar foreign centers and their experiences gained during execution of pilot projects aimed at implementing the ISO/IEC 29110 processes and practices. In the practical part of the thesis, an informational website about ISO/IEC 29110 has been designed and created. The website will serve as a source of information regarding the ISO/IEC 29110 standard in the Czech Republic. It will also promote the activities of the center for very small entities and provide organizations with possibilities of collaboration. I regard the main contributions of the thesis to be: evaluation of center's competencies needed promote the use of ISO/IEC 29110 in Very Small Entities for example by an execution of pilot projects us; and the creation of a website that can be used to concentrate knowledge about the ISO/IEC 29110 standard and to share it among the target audience.
Possible Relations between Organic Aerosol Analysed by Aerosol Mass Spetrometer and EC/OC Analyzer
Vodička, Petr ; Makeš, Otakar ; Kubelová, Lucie ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Ždímal, Vladimír
Analysis of carbonaceous aerosols by elemental and organic carbon (EC/OC) analyzer can provide additional information in the form of OC fractions. These may improve characterization of organic aerosol. We compared two sets of PM1 aerosol data – summer (22.-26.6. and 13.-31.7.2012) and winter (12.-29.1.2013) – measured at a Prague urban background site (50°7′36.47″N, 14°23′5.51″E, 277 m ASL). We wanted to determine whether the OC fractions from EC/OC analyzer can indirectly provide also information on the chemical composition or in other respects improve aerosol characterisation.

Seasonal Differences in Chemical Composition of Atmospheric Aerosol Studied with High Resolution in Prague
Kubelová, Lucie ; Vodička, Petr ; Makeš, Otakar ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Ždímal, Vladimír
The compact-Time of Flight-Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (AMS) was used to describe seasonal differences in atmospheric aerosol at a Prague suburban site. The data were compared with measurements done with other instruments such as Sunset organic and elemental carbon analyzer, TSI Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS), and results from ion chromatography, and with meteorological model.

Generation of TiO2 Nanoparticles for Follow-Up Inhalation Experiments with Laboratory Animals
Moravec, Pavel ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Vodička, Petr ; Koštejn, Martin
A method of TiO2 nanoparticle generation appropriate for follow-up long lasting inhalation experiments with laboratory animals was tested. Nanoparticles were synthesized in an externally heated tube reactor using titanium tetraisopropoxide as a precursor. Total 264 hours of particle generation in four experimental campaigns was performed with one batch of precursor without observable decrease of precursor volatility. Particle production was studied in wide range of experimental conditions such as reactor temperature, reactor flow rate and precursor vapor pressure by pyrolysis, using nitrogen as a carrier gas, and also in oxidizing atmosphere (10 vol. % of oxygen in the reaction mixture). Particle characteristics were investigated by scanning/transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry, elemental and organic carbon analyzer, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectrometry. As a result, particle production with number concentration high above 1.0 x 10(7) #/cm(3) and with primary particle size well below 50 nm can be easily achieved in most of investigated experimental conditions. Particles are free of elemental carbon, content of organic carbon is less than 10 weight %, detected crystalline phase is typically anatase, Ti is present in bonds Ti-O (TiO2) and total Ti concentration recalculated on TiO2 is approximately 80 mass %.

Aerosol Chemical Composition Studied by the Aerosol Mass Spectrometry – Identification of Aerosol Emerging during New Year´s Celebration
Kubelová, Lucie ; Vodička, Petr ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Ždímal, Vladimír
This study focused on finding of a marker of presence of aerosol originating during fireworks using aerosol mass spectrometer c-ToF-AMS. During the 48-hour campaign, we observed 4 episodes characterized by increased mass concentration of aerosol. Nonetheless, the main focus was placed on the episode right after the New Year's celebration. The AMS spectrometer enabled to identify fragments originating from fireworks. We found that presence of fireworks aerosol particles leads to a significant increase of the ratio m/z 39 and total organic mass. Since the increase in the fragment m/z 39 is usually connected with an increase in organic matter (i.e. with their relatively small mutual ratio), it is possible to consider the increased value of such ratio as a marker of presence of aerosol pariticles originating from firewords.

Characterization of Particulate Matter in Different Archives
Mašková, Ludmila ; Smolík, Jiří ; Vodička, Petr
Indoor air pollution in cultural heritage buildings such as museums, libraries and archives can be harmful for materials stored there. Adverse effects of most of gaseous pollutants are well described (Thomson, 1965), but less is known about airborne particles. Particles cover a wide range of sizes and have a variable composition. These characteristics determine their transport to the surfaces and also possible negative effects (Nazaroff and Cass, 1989).
