The interpretive tradition and analysis of the “Pan” by Vítězslav Novák

The purpose of this thesis is a comprehensive performing analysis of the program Tone Poem “Pan” op. 43 by Vítězslav Novák. This composition represents one of the pearls of the Czech piano repertoire, but very few pianists included it in their concert programs because of the duration and technical difficulties. However, thanks to its originality, richness of the harmonic and melodic resources and quality of the detailes, the piano music of Vítězslav Novák is worth to be performed at concert venues much more frequently. Using for her studies czech information sources mostly, such as monographs, sets of articles about Novák, Novák’s biographic notes, the author has tried to aggregate data on the idea of “Pan”, the composition process and to describe the outstanding performers of this unique cycle. Recordings made by František Maxián, František Rauch, Martin Vojtíšek, Margaret Fingerhut and Slovak Filharmonic Orchestra with Zdeněk Bílek have served as valuable materials for the comparative analysis of different interpretations of the piece. The author’s own observations that were made during her studying and performing the piece as well as a theoretical analysis are included.

INTERPRETATION ASPECTS OF CHOPIN’S B MINOR SONATA

The main aim of the thesis is to give a conclusive view of the current interpretation state of Frédéric Chopin’s sonata in B minor, op. 58. A brief formal analysis is provided as well as further study hints. The main part focuses on interpretation difficulties such as edition choice, composition style in contrast to interpretation approaches and fulfilment of the opus by famous pianists.

Murray Perahia and his contribution to piano interpretation

This Master Thesis deals with the world-renowned pianist Murray Perahioa and his contribution to the pianist. It describes his life and introduces readers to his views on music. It is analyzing his recordings and focuses on his editorial activity also. Analysis of the recordings is centered on important works of the Baroque and Classica era. Analysis of editorial work is conceived as another way to understand the weork of the extraordinary pianist.

Piano works of S. Rachmaninov with focusing on the cycle Moments musical

This Diploma´s thesis is focused on a composer Sergej Vasiljevic Rachmaninov. It contains his biography and the list of his piano works. The main part of the work is focused on the piano cycle Moments musical, which consists of six compositions. The thesis includes a formal analysis and recommendation how to play and practice this work.
The final part of the thesis is devoted to the recordings of this cycle. It contains the list of the recordings and the comparison of the three representative pianists. There is also a piece of information about all of them.

Film Music of Dmitrij Shostakovich

The topic of my bachelor thesis is to introduce film music of Dmitrij Shostakovich, to study some of the major compositions, which are partly analyzed, but without any concrete example.
My goal is to bring the reader closer to the way the composer dealt with this particular kind of music, which is of no lesser quality to his standart repertoire.
I managed to illustrate political situation of given time period and conditions in which the works were composed, eventually edited.
An the end I would like to recommend some of the recordings with great interpretation of film music of Dmitri Shostakovich.

Play on piano is one-sided movement activity. During this activity is burned our upper body mainly our arms. During overworking of particular part can happen disease of playing apparatus. Aim of this work is to map the most common diseases for pianist, to find out symptoms and causations and mainly to find out more about prevention. Also this work is providing information from anatomy, which is necessary to know for pianist affected by professional disease.

The subject of this thesis is the outstanding personality of the teacher and pianist Martina Maixnerová , which was neglected due to her emigration. We discuss her life story, concert performances and educational success. We will also mention the personality of a significant violinist Pavel Prantl, who become her life partner, both in private and in professional life.

Alexander N. Skryabin: Sonata no. V.

The aim of this Bachelor work is primarily to better understand and classify A. N. Skrjabin fifth sonata to the context of his work. Also to further clarify complicated structural and harmonic aspekt of this composition and new possibilities interpretation of fifth sonata. As a means to that end I mostly used the literature (see sources), as well as great views of musical personalities with whom I consulted this issue and last but not least, my own experience. I think that my contribution can be a new dual perspective to Skrjabin music (viewpoint of the artist and viewpoint of composer).

A Modern Method of Music Theory Education

The topic of this Bachelor´s thesis is a new method of the music theory education represented by Irena Kršková. Mrs. Kršková has worked as a teacher throughout her life and she has tried to improve the teaching and excite her pupils as much as possible. She taught several subjects, but the most interesting part of her work is music theory and intonation. This thesis includes her curriculum vitae, but the main part is devoted to her lifelong work. She wrote a very modern textbook of music theory and she has invented a lot of teaching aids, which make teaching easier and funnier. In addition, Irena Kršková founded a course for teachers called Potštátský houslový klíč which is mentioned as well. This course help teachers understand her method.

Music education in Japan

After 1868 Japan adopted a modern European system of all parties in the field of education. Western music is part of the school system and thus began to spread. the Japanese education system places strong emphasis on general education, while specialstudy is little developed. Today in Japan you can receive professional education in school education from the age of 16. Now there are many music schools and many students also specializes in Western music. However, practical lessons and lectures are not focused on the education of "professional" musicians, and the level of music education in Japan is very different. We can say that the Japanese music school to stall completely. In recent years, efforts to reform education, reform the curriculum and not just subjects but also the prevalance of musical genres. The various music schools have different procedures in an effort to attractstudents.
