NGOs in czech prison system
Zděnková, Zuzana ; Valeš, František (advisor) ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (referee)
The thesis focuses on activities of NGOs in Czech prison system. First chapter introduces the theoretical context of given topic and current situation in Czech prison system with its pressing problems with regard to the declared purpose of custodial sentence and possible role of NGOs in it. Following part gives an overview of work of various NGOs and divides them on the basis of their main focus. Empirical part is based on a research among respondents coming from both NGOs and state organisations and shows the strengths and weaknesses of cooperation between them as well as the main barriers to work of NGOs and the possible prospects. As an output there can be recommendations found in this thesis which suggest possible improvements of the current situation in Czech prison system including the activities of NGOs and put forward kinds of activities and focus missing in the present condition.
Activity of NGOs in the frame of state integration policy of foreigners in the Czech Republic
Běhounková, Simona ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (advisor) ; Valeš, František (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with issues of activities of NGOs in the frame of state integration policy and is bared oh the supposition that NGOs are important powerful factors which can influence and change state integration policy of foreigners in the Czech Republic. The main goal is to map NGOs engaged in the topic and examine their ways, structure and types of influencing public policy in the area. The theoretical part concerns description of issues of migration and its development in the CR, deals with Czech integration policy and describes theoretical types of influencing public policy and relationships between the state and NGOs. The empirical part includes basic information about particular NGOs and analysis of interviews with representatives of NGOs and the institutions and departments of state and an overall summary of the research. The discovered finding form the research and evaluated achieved aims are placed at the and of the thesis.
Comparative analyses of immigration and integration policies in Czech Republic and Slovak Republic and a profile of non-governmental organizations working in this field
Kutilová, Monika ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (advisor) ; Valeš, František (referee)
Topic of immigration and integration of foreigners to the majority has become more relevant in last few years in Czech and Slovak public. This essay deals with migration and integration on the level of government policies, introduces basic documents and conceptions, which were accepted in those states and the role of ministries and regions. Consequently, situation in both states is compared. In the second part of the essay, non-governmental organization and their role in the field of migration and integration are introduced and chosen aspects of three pairs of NGOs are compared with the effort to put them into the broader context. Key words: foreigner, immigrant, integration, immigration policies, integration policies, migration, non-governmental organization (NGO)
Numerical solution of a secular equation for rayleigh waves in a thin semi-infinite medium made of a composite material
Červ, Jan ; Adámek, V. ; Valeš, František ; Parma, Slavomír
The traditional way of deriving the secular equation for Rayleigh waves propagating along the stress-free edge of a thin semi-infinite composite is presented. It means that it is necessary to find a general steady-state solution that vanishes at infinity. The secular equation is then obtained by vanishing of the surface traction at the stress-free edge. For the solution of such secular equation it is necessary to precompute some roots of characteristic quartic equation. The method shown in this paper, based on displacement formulation, leads to the so-called implicit secular equation. The numerical approach to the solution is shown.
Transient response of layered orthotropic strip to transverse load
Adámek, V. ; Valeš, František ; Červ, Jan
This work concerns the transient response of an infinite two-layered strip subjected to a transverse load of impact character. The material of each layer is assumed to be specially orthotropic, i.e. the material and geometric axes coincide. Moreover, the material is modelled as linear viscoelastic using the model of standard linear viscoelastic solid such that the damping behaviour of the strip for long wavelengths and long times can be addressed. The non-stationary wave phenomena in the strip are studied using analytical approach. The system of equations of motion for the case of 2D plane-stress problem is solved using the classical method of integral transform. Once the formulas for the Laplace transforms of fundamental mechanical quantities are derived, the numerical inverse Laplace transform is used to obtain the response in time domain for a strip with free-fixed boundaries. The results for a strip composed of two orthotropic layers of specific material properties are presented in this work. Finally, this solution is confronted with the results of numerical simulations reached by a professional FE code.
Application of numerical inverse Laplace transform to elastodynamic problems
Adámek, V. ; Valeš, František ; Červ, Jan
Laplace transform represents one of the most used transforms in time domain. There exist two possible approaches to its inversion, analytical and numerical. The first method is based on the exact evaluation of the inverse integral. This is usually done by the help of Cauchy´s residue theorem. The substance of the second method lies in the numerical evaluation of the inverse integral. This numerical approach is faster than an analytical solution and it can be also applied to more complicated problems where e.g. the existence of branch points makes the inverse process, based on the analytic techniques, much more complicated.
Comparison of two possible approaches to inverse laplace transform applied to wave problems
Adámek, V. ; Valeš, František ; Červ, Jan
This paper concerns the investigation of non-stationary wave phenomena in a thin elastic disc under radial impact by means of analytical methods. When the method of integral transforms is used for solving the system of PDEs describing a wave problem solved, one has to overcome the problem of inverse transform. This work focuses on two possible approaches to the inverse Laplace transform. Using the existing analytical solution of the problem, the classic method making use of the residue theorem and the method based on the numerical inverse Laplace transform are compared. Advantages and disadvantages of both approaches, mainly from computational point of view, are discussed and demonstrated.
Determination of impact effect between railway wheel and top of rail having a small bump
Valeš, František ; Červ, Jan ; Tikal, B. ; Kaloč, R.
The aim of work is to study the dynamic contact between railway wheel and top of rail when wheel is crossing the small bump.
Stress Waves in Thin Discs Under Radial Impact Load
Červ, Jan ; Valeš, František
Stress wave propagation in a thin disc under radial impact loading is studied. Solution is based on analytical (integral transform method and method of separation of variables) and numerical (finite element method) approaches.
