Integration of foreign nationals in the territory of the Czech Republic

The master thesis deals with the integration of foreign nationals in the territory of the Czech Republic, specificaly the immigrants from the third countries. The main objective is to identify factors affecting the integration of these persons. The thesis uses the method of qualitative research, where there are explained the causes of migration, the situation of immigrants after arrival to the destination country, the strategy of immigrants and their establishment of primary and secondary social networks, including maintaining their transnational relations. The thesis then focuses on the social content between the major society and the other etnic groups. The research part is also supplemented by statistics, which provides current data on the life of foreigners in the monitored area. The conclusions are compared with the opinions of experts, who work on integration of organizations and besides expert advice for foreigners they also focus on the education of members from the ranks of the majority.
The phenomenon of old age and aging in the eyes of younger generations

The question of age and aging is currently gaining in importance. The main reasons for the aging of population are the extension of age of individuals and low birthrate. This master thesis tries to answer the question, how the younger generations see seniors and identify the main stereotypes and myths about age and aging, which are produced in contemporary society. By using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research is presented an image of senior in the eyes of youngest, middle and oldest generations. The empirical part firstly deals with the perception of seniors, depending on age and sex of respondents and secondly the perception of myths about seniors depending on the age of respondents. Statistical data from the questionnaire are supplemented with information based on interviews. The results of the thesis point out that the Czech population perceives seniors rather neutral, between generations are only small differences in the perception of seniors.
Czech-arabic relationships in Teplice. Case study.

The issues of Islam, integration of Muslims and multiculturalism are currently major topics in the European space. Within the framework of this debate, among the search for self-identity, occur various stereotypical and prejudiced behaviours against this different religious and ethnic group. The everyday contact between Czech and Muslim communities within the Czech Republic happens primarily in the north-bohemian town of Teplice. This spa town provides excellent spa treatment, which attracts guests from Arabian countries. This thesis inquiries about the nature of relations between the local citizens and the Muslim population, which either permanently lives here or is on a temporary visit. It attempts to provide possible solutions for disputes of such coexistence.
Neighborhood phenomenon in a housing estate - case study Cerny Most

The focus of this master thesis is on the phenomenon of neighborhood and social relations between residents of the housing estate Cerny Most. The main objective of this thesis is to determinate, what social relations and interactions are between residents of Cerny Most and how different are these relations and interactions between established residents and newcomers. The research is a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. The quantitative part is based on a survey, which is focused on determinates of neighborhood, for example the residential stability, the resident´s connection to Cerny Most and spending of free time in the locality depending on location of residence and length of staying in the location. Research is also focused on neighborly relations and social interactions between residents of Cerny Most, but also between established residents and newcomers. Research deals with the satisfaction in the place of residence, quality of neighborly relations, purposeful meeting of neighbors and involvement in the community life. The qualitative part is consist of field research, own photographs of the area and semistructured interviews which help to better understanding to detected areas. From the survey results, statistic calculations and semistructured interviews is compile the plastic image of neighborly relations and interactions between the residents of Cerny Most.
Crime and perceptions of safety in housing estate - Case study Černý Most

This Master Thesis deals with the issue of crime and the perception of safety on the example of a housing estate area. In this case, it is a case study of the housing estate Černý Most. The basic principle is to provide a subjective perspective on the perceptions of safety of the inhabitants in the investigated area and to monitor the issue of what personal experience these residents realistically have with crime. The Thesis also seeks to identify the places that residents consider to be dangerous for them, which evoke the feeling of fear in them and to find out how their behavior changes in these places. Where applicable, to identify the similarities of these places, to trace if there are similar characteristics or whether it is the social and physical environment of the settlement itself that adds to the increased sense of fear. Moreover, work of the police and prevention against crime in the given location will be mentioned.
