18M-IMMEDIATE Research Report: Prototype of Catalyst Powder Sufficient for Testing in MEAs Fabricated
Kaluža, Luděk ; Zdražil, Miroslav ; Gulková, Daniela ; Koštejn, Martin ; Vít, Zdeněk
High loadings of platinum (60 wt%) were precipitated (ICPF) or depo-sited (CNRS) onto research grade carbon black supports provided by TC. The supports and the resulting electrocatalysts were thoroughly characterised in order to select the best ones for optimisation and up-scaled manufacturing. For the preparation and characterisation vari-ous methodologies have been developed. Batches of the gram size were prepared of a handful of the most promising catalysts. This is sufficient for the preparation of test MEAs.
Preparation of Hydrodesulfurization Magnesia Supported Cobalt-Molybdenum Catalysts
Kaluža, Luděk ; Gulková, Daniela ; Vít, Zdeněk ; Zdražil, Miroslav
The aim of the present work was to elucidate the possibility of deposition of molybdenyl- and cobalt- acetylacetonates on the high surface area MgO by impregnation from solutions of these compounds in methanol. The prepared CoMo/MgO catalysts exhibited at least 3.3 fold activities in benzothiophene HDS as the reference industrial CoMo/Al2O3 catalyst.

Highly Loaded Carbon Black Supported Platinum Catalysts for Fuel Batteries
Kaluža, Luděk ; Zdražil, Miroslav ; Gulková, Daniela
Carbon supported Pt represents conventional catalyst in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel battery (PEM fuel cell). The aim of this work was to elucidate on the methods of Pt deposition on carbon black to achieve high loadings of Pt of about 60 wt.% in highly dispersed form.

Preparation of CoMo/MgO Catalysts for Hydrodesulfurization
Gulková, Daniela ; Kaluža, Luděk ; Zdražil, Miroslav ; Vít, Zdeněk
The aim of the present work was to elucidate the possibility of deposition of molybdenyland cobalt- acetylacetonates on the high surface area MgO by impregnation from solutions of these compounds in methanol. Furthermore, non-aqueous solutions of MoO3 and CoCO3, (NH4)6Mo7O24 and Co(NO3)2, MoO2(C5H7O2)2 and Co(C5H7O2)2 with chelating agent nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) were studied for CoMo deposition in one impregnation step.

The aim of this work was to elucidate on the methods of Pt deposition on carbon black to achieve high loadings of Pt of about 60 wt.% in highly dispersed form. The carbon black supports were characterized by nitrogen physisorption. Platinum was deposited on the supports: from true solutions of H2PtCl6, Pt(C5H7O2)2, Pt(NH3)4(NO3)2, or Pt(NH3)2(NO2)2, and from fine dispersions of Pt(C5H7O2)2, PtO2, Pt(NH3)4(OH)2. Atomic adsorption spectroscopy, AAS, and scanning electron microscopy, SEM, were used for elemental analysis and determination of Pt content. The deposited Pt species were dried, calcined or reduced and were subjected to temperature programmed reduction, TPR. After degassing at increased temperature, the Pt dispersion was determined by hydrogen chemisorption at -60 C.

Preparation of Sulfide Hydrorefining CoMo Catalysts by Equilibrium Adsorption of MoO3 onto SiO2-Al2O3 Supports
Kaluža, Luděk ; Gulková, Daniela ; Zdražil, Miroslav ; Vít, Zdeněk
The acidic properties of the modified SiO2–Al2O3 supports in terms of cyclohexene isomerization and cumene cracking were preserved after deposition of the sulfidic CoMo phase. The main factor influencing these properties was found to be the Al2O3 content.
