Design of heat exchangers for high temperature applications
Jonák, Martin ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Kermes, Vít (advisor)
This thesis is devoted to thermal-hydraulic design and rating of heat exchangers with the specialized commercial software HTRI. These heat exchangers are solved for real high-temperature applications, where the hot fluid is a flue gas with high temperature (above 500 °C). In the thesis is made a brief analysis of the conventional design of heat exchangers usable for high-temperature aplications, description of the basic relations, description and brief user manual of software HTRI. Further, work includes a comparative study of methods for calculation of pressure drop of the fluid at 180° elbows, as support analysis for solution of required applications characterized by low pressure drop of process fluids.
Design of high-pressure heat exchanger
Marada, Petr ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
The aim of the thesis is to design a heat exchanger for heating natural gas in the mining process and subsequent treatment. The first part describes natural gas itself, its origin, mining and ways of treatment. There are described technologies used for finding the deposits itself or processes by which water, sulfur and solid particles are removed from the extracted gas. The next section deals with the types of heat exchangers most commonly used in industry. There are also described basic relations for heat-hydraulic calculation of heat exchanger. In the practical part the heat exchanger itself was designed. World-wide HTRI software was used for the heat-hydraulic calculation and for strength calculation according to the standard ČSN EN 13445 was used sofware Sant´ Ambrogio.
Using of professional software HTRI for the design of heat exchanger
Šimeček, Tomáš ; Kohoutek, Josef (referee) ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (advisor)
The main goal of this master‘s thesis was to keep a basic orientation in commercial software HTRI. This software serves to design and rating calculation of heat transfer equipment. There were calculated four main types of heat exchangers and created a detailed user manual as a helpful tool for future education purposes on the faculty of mechanical engineering and its institute of process and environmental engineering.
Heat exchanger for rescue habitat
Bouma, Adam ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis deals with the specific issues of designing a suitable type of heat exchanger for ventilation in a rescue habitat. The paper presents an overview of the most common types of heat exchangers and characterizes basic heat transfer mechanisms (radiation, convection). Based on the above and other knowledge, a thermal-hydraulic calculation model suitable for a regenerative heat exchanger type is compiled and the necessary calculations are performed. The thesis also contains an evaluation of the results for three materials which can be used in the production of a heat exchanger (aluminum, copper, steel).
Software support in creating a complex calculation tool
Zich, Jan ; Jegla, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (advisor)
The master’s thesis is focused on the calculation of a heat exchanger with a crossflowed tube bundle found most in the air-cooled heat exchangers. The knowledge gained from the literature search is used to create libraries, giving a choice of several different methods in the hydraulic and thermal calculation as well as other key areas. These libraries allow their implementation in the comprehensive computational software P.E.C. developed at the Institute of Process Engineering. The thesis includes a verification of the correctness of the library’s calculations with showcased problems as well as 2 parametric studies. These investigate the dependencies of the transverse and longitudinal pitch on some of the process parameters of the heat exchanger.
Prediction of fluids temperature profiles in heat exchanger
Havelková, Pavla ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
This master’s thesis is focused on the description and processing of the cell method, which is generally recommended for prediction of fluids temperature profiles in heat exchanger. In the thesis the basic equations for calculating heat transfer are presented and is also described the current situation in the field of computational prediction of fluids temperature profiles in heat exchangers. The cell method is solved by using the software Maple and is applied to the specific case of industrial heat exchangers. The results obtained by the cell method are compared with the results obtained by educational version of software HTRI Xchanger Suite. By this comparison explicitness of the cell method is assessed.
Processing and evaluation of experimental data measured at prototype unit for energetic utilization of biomass
Blažková, Blanka ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Urban, Lukáš (advisor)
Main task of this final thesis is to analyse experimental measured data of prototype unit with output of 1 MW for energic biomass utilization. Furthermore the aim is to get acquainted with energic biomass problems utilization in middle output kettles and with stationary source legislation. To transfer measured value due to legislative conditions this diploma work solves the conversion procedure which is necessary to evaluate emission limits for measured concentration CO, SO2, NOX and stiff contaminating matters. My final work put emphasis on graphics processing in general tables and graphs with trends describtions. Endeavour is achieve discussion bilateral connection.
The basic design of regenerative heat exchanger
Schütz, Stanislav ; Jegla, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (advisor)
Regenerative heat exchangers are established as a means of heat recovery in many industrial applications. The fixed-bed regenerators are mostly used to transfer heat from hot flue gas to cold air. In this work, several mathematical models of regenerators and several calculation methods were compared, while the preferred method is Willmott’s open method from 1964. Analysis of the influence of geometrical and operational parameters was carried out for the linear regenerator model.

Venclů, Jan ; Jegla, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (advisor)
The main subject of this bachelor´s thesis is theory of cleaning, especially by various influences on cleaning result, and description of cleaning by the help of CIP station. The second part of this work is practical proposal of CIP station inclusive relevant graphical documentation.
Calculation of heat loss and pipe insulation
Tuček, Jan ; Jegla, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (advisor)
In this bachelor thesis "Calculation of heat loss and pipe insulation" describes the mechanisms of heat transfer and listed equations for calculating the Nusselt number for heat transfer by convection. The following describes the types of thermal insulation properties and their uses. The last part of this thesis is devoted to the preparation of calculating the heat loss calculation of the required thickness of insulation according to the required temperature and the most economical insulation thickness calculations.
