Suggestion and realization of Thermo-electric stimulator for quantitative estimation of thermal threshold in patients
Hykel, Jan ; Hozman, Jiří (advisor) ; Špunda, Miloslav (referee)
The sensory disorders are one of the main symptoms of the neuropathy. Examination and estimation of the level of the Neuropathic disease is main target of the comprehensive examination method "Quantitative sensory testing". One part of this group of tests is Quantitative estimation of thermal thresholds. This method is based on the special device called "Thermo-electric Stimulator" (TES). The main aim of this thesis is to design and develop this kind of device and accomplish some functional tests with that device. Values acquired from this testing are important for comparison with values acquired from the relevant studies. The TES was designed in basic configuration necessary for the right and complete examination of the thermal thresholds. The comparison wasn't exhaustive but values acquired by the thermoelectric stimulator are commonly corresponding with hypothetic values. Last but not least target of this thesis is to bring in some suggestions of possible upgrades to automatize thermal threshold estimation procedure or make some possible suggestion of alternative design of the Thermoelectric Stimulator.
Planar microwave applicator for local thermotherapy
Kosík, Jaroslav ; Hozman, Jiří (referee) ; Vorlíček, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design, construction and evaluation of planar applicator for microwave thermotherapy in the shape of a double Archimedean spiral. Furthermore, this thesis brings the basic concept of thermotherapy as a suitable method for supportive treatment in oncology as well as in the medical thermotherapy.
Complex Permittivity Measurement of Biological Tissue
Vorlíček, Jaroslav ; Hozman, Jiří (referee) ; Oppl, Ladislav (advisor)
This thesis deals with the measurement of complex permittivity of biological tissue as the default precondition for the design of thermo-therapeutic microwave applicators for hyperthermia oncology treatment, when for the valid simulations of electromagnetic field is necessary to know the dielectric parameters of the environment. There are described different approaches to measure complex permittivity, in particular the non-invasive method of measuring complex permittivity at the end of the coaxial cable. For this purpose two measuring probes have been designed, constructed and tested. The first one based on N-connector and the second based on the SMA-connector. Simulations of the probe's models were simulated in program SEMCAD 14 and double checked by CST MICROWAVE STUDIO 2009. The possibilities of measuring complex permittivity of biological tissue as a potential diagnostic imaging method are also discussed. Measurements in order to demonstrate the diagnostic potential of this method were first conducted on artificially created non-homogeneous agar phantom with added mixture of various dielectrics, followed by measurement of biological tissue in vivo.
Evaluation of Mammographical Densities
Hána, Vojtěch ; Hozman, Jiří (advisor) ; Páta, Petr (referee)
Breast density has been identified as an important risk factor in the development of breast cancer. The purpose of this diploma work was to create software for evaluation mammography images and to allow doctors to study relationships between breast parenchymal density and breast cancer as well as enable monitoring the progress of treatment. It was created application Mamodens, what contains functions for displaying image records of mammography, tools for image processing and statistical output of measured values. This application will be used at the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the General University Hospital in Prague to support diagnostic of the breast cancer.
Binocular vision
Brňák, Jan ; Hozman, Jiří (referee) ; Fedra, Petr (advisor)
This masters thesis deals with the physiology of binocular vision people for obtaining two dimensional spatial perception of images with glasses. There are developed theoretical part of the physiology of vision, then writing available methods that are now widespread for obtaining stereoscopic scene. The work also describes shooting dynamic scene using a pair of identical cameras. It focuses mainly on OFF-AXES method and deals with the topic of the settings stereoscopic base. There is also realized a practical part, which works with the capture dynamic scenes using video cameras with a automatic control of cameras distance. Automatic control is performed using the parallel port and a stepper motor. For this purpose it is designed to work in hardware support and a program for mutual communication. Filmed a short movie was screened to a group and those observers evaluated the parameters that were specified in the created poll.
Processing and analysis of ophthalmologic images and data
Brož, Petr ; Hozman, Jiří (referee) ; Kolář, Radim (advisor)
In this work is describe anatomy and physiology of the cornea. The following are the primary non-inflamatory degeneration of the cornea. Then describe the physical principles diagnostic devices for cornea – keratometer, pachymeter, Michelson interferometr and optical coherence tomography (OCT). At the end of the theoretical introduction is describes the principle of laser correction surgery – LASIK. The practical part is divided into two main objectives. The first task is propose an algorithm for automatic detection of corneal surface and then calculation of corneal thickness and size of the chamber angle in Matlab. The aim of the second task is image flap analysis for boundary detection.
