Ondráčková, Lucie ; Ždímal, Vladimír ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Smolík, Jiří ; Putaud, J.P.
This article deals with experimental study of aerosol penetration efficiency through denuder.
Měření tlaku sytých par kyseliny sírové – předběžné výsledky
Krejčí, A. Petr ; Ždímal, Vladimír ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Hrubý, Jan
Sulphuric acid is crucial component in the initial stage of vapour to liquid transition – nucleation, very important step in environmental and industrial processes, as well as in public health issues. Involved processes are cloud droplet formation, flue gas dew point temperature estimates, as well as increased mortality in highly polluted areas. To model mentioned processes, it is essential to know equilibrium pressures of vapours in concern, sulphuric acid vapour especially.
The Influence of the Carrier Gas on the Homogeneous Nucleation Kinetics. Experiments in Supersaturated Vapors of 1-Propanol in Helium
Ždímal, Vladimír ; Brus, David
The influence of a carrier gas on homogeneous nucleation kinetics was studied in this work. The experiments were carried out in supersaturated vapors on n-propanol, helium was used as a carrier gas. Local rates of nucleation as a function of total pressure were determined at constant temperature and supersaturation. A systematic decrease of homogeneous nucleation rate was observed with increasing total pressure.
Aerosol Characterization in the Indoor Environment
Smolík, Jiří ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Ždímal, Vladimír ; Dohányosová, Pavla
Aerosol behaviour in the indoor environment and relation to outdoor aerosols, including study of the influence of some indoor sources were studied using measurement of aerosol size distributions using SMPS, APS and BLPI. The size distribution of several elements and main ions were also studied.
Dynamics of Aerosol Number Size Distributions during an Experimental Campaign at the Bily Kriz Measuring Site
Ždímal, Vladimír ; Moravec, Pavel ; Smolík, Jiří ; Mikuška, Pavel ; Večeřa, Zbyněk ; Pokorný, Radek
This work aimed at studying the dynamics of atmospheric aerosol particle size distributions and interpreting it in connection to local concentrations of gaseous pollutants and basic meteorological parameters. Number size distributions had been monitored with high time resolution during an intense experimental campaign at a remote continental sampling site Bily Kriz. The site is located at the NE tip of the Czech Republic in the hilly region. The campaign had ben carried out at the end of June 2001. Several very interesting events were observed when formation of large amounts of new aerosol particles occured in the day time. Due to the behaviour of other measured parameters it was concluded that the so called "nucleation events" took place on a mesoscale region.
Chemical Composition of Indoor and Outdoor Aerosol in Prague Suburb
Smolík, Jiří ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Ždímal, Vladimír ; Lazaridis, M. ; Dohányosová, Pavla
Epidemical studies show higher concentration of aerosol particles in the air influencing negatively human health. Although majority of today’s population spends its time inside buildings, less attention was focused to study behavior and composition of indoor PM. Chemical composition of size resolved indoor/outdoor aerosol from campaign in November 2002 is presented in this work.
Behaviour of Indoor Aerosol during Common Home Activities
Smolík, Jiří ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Ždímal, Vladimír ; Lazaridis, M. ; Dohányosová, Pavla
The atmospheric pollution is one of the most important causes of health problems of today’s population. The effect of aerosol particles to human health wasn’t yet explored sufficiently. Current legislation (e.g. 86/2002 sb.) is based on standard methods and measuring techniques, and doesn’t reflect real health risks. Although most people spend 80-90% of their time indoors, regulations of PM pollution is aimed to measuring and lowering PM concentration outdoors.
Aerosol in the steam turbine?
Kolovratník, Michal ; Hrubý, Jan ; Ždímal, Vladimír
The small amount of admixtures in steam circuits of power stations influences their life-expectancy and energetic efficiency. It is likely that non-volatile admixtures are in the environment of the dry (superheated) steam transported in the form lf dry particles or concentrated nanometric droplets, aerosols. For the detection of these particles a new sampling line is proposed, using the aerosol technology. It will be possible to connect the sampling line to sampling ports of a steam turbine.
