Synovial fluid filtration by articular cartilage under cyclical loading
Hlaváček, Miroslav
Lubrication of the human ankle joint in walking is analysed. For the normal joint, within each step, the synovial fluid filmshortly turns into a thin protecting gel layer. With thearthritic joint, this protecting gel film is depleted afterseveral steps and the surfaces get into the contact.
Squeeze - Film Lubrication of the Human Ankle Joint with the Superficial Zone of Articular Cartilage Intact or Worn out
Hlaváček, Miroslav
A squeeze-film lubrication model of the human ankle joint with the fluid transport across the articular surface is presen ted. The intact articular superficial zone is considered as an inextendible permeable membrane and for this case the synovial fluid film maintains for long compared to the case with super ficial zone worn out (early osteoarthritis).
Kontakt válcových ploch pokrytých tenkými pružnými nestlačitelnými vrstvami
Hlaváček, Miroslav
The paper deals with a frictionless contact problem of two parallel rigid cylindrical surfaces, one encased in the other, coated with thin elastic transversely isotropic and incompressible layers. A simplifying approximation for the displacement in the coating enables the problem to be formulated using stress and strain averaged through the coating thickness. Analytical results are obtained for the contact width and contact stress distribution. The results are applied to the human ankle joint and generalized for articular cartilage with depth-dependent properties
