The method of conservation, preservation and restoration of subjects of cultural heritage on the ceramic basis (fired/unfired clay)
Štefcová, Petra ; Kadeřábková, Jana ; Polák, Ladislav ; Valach, Jaroslav ; Vavřík, Daniel
The ceramic (decorative or utility) accompanies humanity from prehistoric times to the present days. Therefore, the ceramic play important role in collections in all institutions. Due to the nature of the material are those items extremely sensitive to mechanical damage. The submitted method explains the damage mechanism or destruction of the items of cultural heritage. The method also summarizes recommendations for designing the optimal condition of depositing, exhibiting, conservation/restoration, and the manipulation with such sensitive material. Including a description of several methods useful to make quality documentation and replication of cultural heritage items (3D models).

Metody fuzzy řízení
Valach, Jiří
This thesis deals with fuzzy regulation. The theoretical part describes fuzzy logic, fuzzy controllers, fuzzy expert systems and Fuzzy Logic Controller in Matlab Simulink software. The practical part contains a set of typical regulated systems in Matlab Simulink software. The systems are regulated by selected fuzzy controllers in comparison with the classical PID controller.
Summary report on radiographic documentation of figurative decorations in the Bučovice castle ceremony hall
Valach, Jaroslav ; Eisler, Marek
This report summarizes the results of radiographic and endoscopic investigation of stucco and figural decorations located in the ceremony hall at the castle in Bučovice, Vyškov county. The internal structure of the statues and ornaments and their varying degree of fracture damage was documented using a portable set comprised of source and recording plates. The support structures used by the original artists as a vantage point for the modelling of their intended shapes were revealed and examined by means of radiography and endoscopy. This data is important for the art historian’s investigation of this cultural monument. Included in the report is a set of photographs and radiographs and their interpretation.
Utilization of image and signal processing techniques for assessment of built heritage condition
Koudelka_ml., Petr ; Koudelková, Veronika ; Doktor, Tomáš ; Kumpová, Ivana ; Kytýř, Daniel ; Valach, Jaroslav
Historical buildings represent invaluable heritage from the past and therefore their protection is a very important task. Assessment of their condition must not cause damage accumulation thus the least possible volume removed from the structure is essential. As many historical buildings in the Czech Republic are built using sandstone that can be considered as a typical heterogeneous system, statistical signal processing is a promising approach for determination of the representative volume element (RVE) dimensions. Such calculations can be carried out on the domain of logical arrays representing binary images of the materials microstructure. This paper deals with processing of image data obtained using SEM-BSE and high resolution flatbed scanner for determination of RVE dimensions. Advanced image processing techniques are employed and results from calculation using grayscale data are presented and compared with results calculated on the basis of color input images.
Glycobiology of the head and neck cancer
Valach, Jaroslav ; Smetana, Karel (advisor) ; Dřízhal, Ivo (referee) ; Říhová, Blanka (referee)
iii Abstract Glycobiology represents a very progressive subject of cell biology. Protein-saccharide interactions play not only supporting and cell organization role, but they also represent medium for information storage and its decoding. Galectins, group of animal lectins (saccharide-binding proteins), which have selective affinity to ß-galactosides, are multifactorial molecules. They participate in cell-cell and cell-matrix interaction, transmembrane signaling, apoptosis, pre- mRNA splicing and are also present in various types of carcinomas. High expression of galectin-1 has been detected in cancer stroma originated from squamous cell epithelium. In the previous study we established that the fibroblasts - myofibroblasts transition, apart from the known TGF- beta, is also induced by galectin-1. We compared relationship between galectin-1 expression, presence of myofibroblasts and gene expression in tissue samples from patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Cancer stroma with myofibroblasts was rich in galectin-1 expression in comparison with stroma without myofibroblasts. Moreover, we used microarray analysis (ILLUMINA) to compare the whole genome transcriptome from samples with and without presence of galectin-1. High expression of galectin-1 in tissue samples corresponded with expression...

Application of SinuTrain 4.7 software in the technical production preparation of the MTB front wheel hub
Valach, Jan ; Osička, Karel (referee) ; Polzer, Aleš (advisor)
This Master's thesis is focused on technical preparation of the MTB front wheel hub and application of SinuTrain 4.7 computer software. The thesis is divided into four thematic parts. The first part introduces the SinuTrain software and briefly describes the MTB wheel hub. The next section contains the hub design and selection of the suitable material for this component. The third part describes production technologies and selection of the turning machine with suitable tools. The last chapter deals with SinuTrain 4.7 software usage and also presents the results of the production simulations.
Determination of thermal response of Carrara and Sneznikovsky marble used as building material
Petráňová, Veronika ; Valach, Jaroslav ; Viani, Alberto ; Pérez-Estébanez, Marta
Physical weathering of marble, widely used as a cladding material on buildings, is one of the most common damaging mechanism caused by anisotropic thermal expansion of calcite grains. The extent of marble deterioration depends mainly on stone fabric and texture. Dry cuboids of Carrara marble and marble from Dolni Morava quarry were subjected to microscopic analysis and thermal cycling, to determine the thermal expansion related to stone fabric and predominant lattice orientation of grains (i.e. texture).
Comparison of optical methods for characterization of glass mosaic weathering
Kocour, Vladimír ; Petráňová, Veronika ; Valach, Jaroslav
The work presented in this paper is a part of research project supported by Ministry of Culture and devoted to conservation of precious mosaic of 'Last Judgement' on St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague. The aim of the project is to enhance external protective polymeric coating on glass tesserae of mosaic and also to develop optical method for assessment of coating’s surface conditions. The paper concentrates on comparison of various methods for surface evaluation assesses their advantages and disadvantages and also discusses their suitability for long term monitoring of coating state, namely reflectometry, scanning probe microscopy, nanoindentation, white-light interferometry, and scanning electron microscopy. It is found that white-light interferometry and reflectometry methods are the most suitable ones for monitoring purposes.
Designing Technology for Flange Part in Two Variants
Valach, Jan ; Osička, Karel (referee) ; Kalivoda, Milan (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to create two technological processes for component flange. For each of variants was chosen different kind of blank and different machine. In both variations, part is machined by turning. Progressive variation can produce the part for approximately one third of the time. Progressive variation of technological process is preferable since 11 pieces.
