Actualization of detailed ingeneering geological map in valley of the Motoský potok brook in Prague
Koretz, Michal ; Kudrna, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Chmelař, Radovan (referee)
Summary: This master's thesis focuses on the actualization and compiling of a detailed engineering geological map in scale 1 : 5 000. The thesis deals with the area defined by four points in the coordinate system JTSK - Křovák: : x1= -749 300, y1= -1 043 400; x2= -745 900, y2= -1 043 400; x3= -749 300, y3= -1 044 500; x4= -745 900, y4= -1 044 500. In the first background research part, the geomorphologic, climatic, geologic, hydrogeological and geodynamic conditions of the mapped area are presented. The second practical part of the thesis consists of four major parts: the engineering geological conditions map, the height of recent sediments map, the hydrogeological map and the map of documentation points. Further, the master's thesis contains geological cross-section. The actualization of engineering geological condition map provides new information about recent sedimentation areas and anthropogenic sediments, especially about landfills and landslides.
More is Less: The Political Economy of the MiFID Revision
Mandić, Stefan ; Kudrna, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Schwarz, Jiří (referee)
The thesis titled "More is Less: The Political Economy of the MiFID Revision" aims to reveal to what extent different preferences of individual Member States on EU financial regulation affect the increase in complexity of financial legislative acts, concretely MiFID II. Using three theoretical building-blocks in a classical framework of political economy, we argue that divergence of member states is inherent to their different capitalist environments (Varieties of Capitalism). Aligning these differences with the common, harmonized regime can create costs and cause market disadvantages. Therefore, Member States try to push for as similar legislation to their own as possible, to minimize the costs. The result is a disproportionately long legislative act, that was crafted in a way to satisfy individual preferences of Member States, through discretionary provisions, exemptions and other. We also investigate how much harmonization the original MiFID established, asking if some provision became less complicated in MiFID II, owing to gradual convergence of Member State regimes.

Landslides on transport constructions in Czech Republic
Zimola, Petr ; Novotný, Jan (advisor) ; Kudrna, Zdeněk (referee)
Landslides on transport constructions in Czech Republic Abstract Construction of transport constructions appear to look so difficult at first sight, but during the construction may occur problems in the form of landslides. The first part of work is dedicated to landslide characterisation, their causes and landslide remediation options. In the next part landslide knowledge is demonstrated on specific examples when damaged roads or railways on the terriory of the Czech republic since the early 20th century to the present.
Influence of Climatic Factor for Landslides Formation
Olejár, Filip ; Novotný, Jan (advisor) ; Kudrna, Zdeněk (referee)
TITLE INFLUENCE OF CLIMATIC FACTOR FOR LANDSLIDES FORMATION ABSTRACT Slope movements are divided into several groups, either by speed, method of movement or by factors causing their formation. The climate conditions of different territories are one of the main reasons that significantly affect the formation of slope movements. The most important climate factor that causes slope movements is precipitation. However, the effect of freezing soil can also be included here because water in the soil changes its volume and after thawing changing geomechanical properties of the material. In this work, the impact of precipitation will be discussed as the most significant climatic factor that induces breaking of the slopes. Rainwater can either gradually infiltrate into the slope, or can infiltrate in the single event with a high amount of rainfall, until it reaches a critical stage during which the weight of watered zone together with pore pressure are being increased whereas the effective shear strength is being reduced. This causes subsequent disintegration of the slope and movement of material along the slip surface in case of sliding movements and along the native surface in case of debris flows. This work summarizes the available knowledge about the precipitation as a significant factor which affects the...
Varieties of capitalism: Impact of the financial crisis on the emergent varieties of capitalism in Estonia, Hungary and Slovenia
Burda, Daniel ; Kudrna, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Schwarz, Jiří (referee)
This study investigates the impact of the financial crisis of 2007 on the capitalist development in the CEE countries. Three countries are picked each representing one sub-cluster of the CEE region in order to examine the difference in post- crisis economic development. The comparison of the countries is based on the Varieties of capitalism paradigm approach, linked to the previous studies of CEE countries inspected by adjusted VoC typology. While the study explores differences in macroeconomic conditions of the countries it further examines the roots of the differences in three sectors - export, financial markets and political environment. The first hypothesis attributing better economic performance to settled countries is rejected. The second hypothesis remains affirmative, suggesting association between economic development and supportive governmental policy. The study concludes the export structure to be fostering common economic recovery while the financial market performance and in-crisis policy were most affected by internal decisions which differentiated according to institutional quality. Keywords Varieties of capitalism, financial crisis, transition countries 1
