Solution of General Stress Concentrators in Anisotropic Media by Combination of FEM and the Complex Potential Theory
„konečné lomové mechaniky“ a teorie sdružených asymptotických rozvojů. Studován je především vztah mezi ohybem trhliny podél rozhraní a její případnou pentrací do základního materiálu. Veškeré potřebné výpočty jsou prováděny v matematických softwarech MAPLE 10.0, MATLAB 7.1 a konečnoprvkovém systému ANSYS 10.0.
Prediction of slow crack growth in polymer pressure pipes
Luky, Robin ; Knésl, Zdeněk (referee) ; Hutař, Pavel (advisor)
A new methodology of polymer pipe lifetime estimation taking into account residual stresses is described in this thesis. Engineering equations derived based on numerical simulations of a hydrostatic pressure test are proposed. Residual lifetime calculations were performed for different loading conditions using experimental data of a creep crack propagation in studied material and stress distribution in the pipe wall. The effects which significantly influence lifetime estimation were quantified with special focus on residual stresses.
In- and out- of plane constraint effects on the fracture parameters of Aluminum Alloy 2024: Experimental results
Seitl, Stanislav ; Knésl, Zdeněk ; Garsía-Suaréz, T. E. ; Fernández-Canteli, A.
In this study, the influence of in- and out- of plane constraints on behaviour of crack under mode – I loading condition is studied. For the experimental program compact tension (CT) and three point bending (3PB) specimens of aluminium alloy 2024 with different thicknesses were tested. The experimental results obtained for mentioned specimens are compared and discussed from the point of view of constraint effects.
Crack lenghts calculation from COD measurement for cement based composites
Seitl, Stanislav ; Hanzlovský, Radovan ; Knésl, Zdeněk
The fatigue of cement based composites is now one of the progressive branches in research. To describe fatigue crack growth quantitatively it is necessary to know the values of materials parameters for Paris’ law. In cement based composites it is difficult to measure crack lengths directly. Therefore the crack open displacement (COD) is measured and then recalculated to crack length. The purpose of the present article is to find the relation between COD and the corresponding crack length for three point bend specimen.
Crack stability condition at the interface between two polymer materials
Zouhar, Michal ; Hutař, Pavel ; Náhlík, Luboš ; Ševčík, Martin ; Knésl, Zdeněk
The aim of this work is to study the behaviour of crack with its tip at the interface of two polymer materials. The numerical model of cracked bi-material tension specimen is investigated and a stability criterion was tested. Usually a stability criterion based on general stress concentrator needs the relation between critical value of the generalized stress intensity factor and critical value of the stress intensity factor (fracture toughness). This relation is a function of elastic mismatch between particular materials, fracture toughness of the main material and critical distance d. Estimation of d is usually not straightforward and different authors use different approaches for its determination. Therefore main aim of this study is mutual comparison of published approaches for d estimation and to quantify their effect on the critical loading value. The results of this study can lead to better lifetime prediction and design of layered structures.
Numerical investigation of residual lifetime of the wheel during EN 13262 test
Matušek, P. ; Hutař, Pavel ; Náhlík, Luboš ; Knésl, Zdeněk ; Kunz, Ludvík
In this paper, the experimental set up corresponding to the test unit used for the full-scale fatigue test has been modelled. The numerical method for reliable estimation of residual fatigue lifetime of wheel web tested according to EN 13 262 Standard has been developed. Numerical calculations are based on finite element method utilizing the system ANSYS. The experimentally observed cracks in the wheel web have been taken as the initial crack configuration. Numerical calculations simulating the initial crack growth in the wheel web loaded by experimental set up have been performed. Under assumptions of linear elastic fracture mechanics the residual fatigue life of the cracked wheel has been predicted.
