Seismic monitoring of fluid contacts from horizontal wells
Janská, Eva ; Vilhelm, Jan (advisor) ; Fischer, Tomáš (referee)
When producing oil from a thin layer with a gas cap, gas is generally unwanted since the reservoir looses pressure. The pressure loss might cause the fluid vertical migration and therefore a misplacement of the horizontal production well. This is the main reason why the oil production is held back when a gas breakthrough occurs. The well is chocked, or run on lower production rates, until the oil column is recovered, but it is not known how long this will take. If the gas-oil contact could be monitored over time, then the gas breakthrough could be better prevented by reducing production from a particular well branch or even by blinding a specific part of the branch. The aim of this research is to test if monitoring of the gas-oil contact by a seismic acquisition inside the horizontal well is feasible. This could be done much cheaper, more often and with better repeatability than classical 4D seismic. The feasibility was investigated on 2D Troll subsurface models, using finitedifference acoustic modelling. Receivers are planned in the horizontal part of the production well and suggesting the best source position was one of objectives. The influence of variations in geological settings was also investigated. The most accurate information about the gas-oil contact shape and its distance from the well is...
Identity of the greek minority and its transnational activities in the CR
Hluchá, Zuzana ; Janská, Eva (advisor) ; Seidlová, Markéta (referee)
The main content of this Thesis is to assess the situation of the Greek minority in the territory of the Czech Republic in the context of its arrival, settlement and integration to the major society. The aim is to assess the current situation of the minority and its transnational activities. The Greek minority in our country is numerically stable and fully integrated into the main society. The methods used in this thesis were the secondary analyses and the field research (the questionnaire survey). The simple statistical methods were used to gain final result. Key worlds: Greek minority, migration, identity, transnational, diaspora.

Mošna, Pavel ; Kocourková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Janská, Eva (referee)
Population development in the USA and Canada was essentialy changed. Fertility increase caused "Baby Boom" in both countries. A strong cohort formed during "Baby Boom has strong impact on population development up to these days. A following social changes prompt drop of fertility rates. Drop in fertility rates together with constatnt improving of life expectancy caused aging of population, a serious problem. The population development is also influenced by high numbers of immigrants. Despite many similar factors, which affect development in both countries, it is possible to find essential differences. Disparities in population development are growing.

The life of ex-Yugoslavs in Prague: community relations and integration
Columby, Nikola ; Klsák, Adam (advisor) ; Janská, Eva (referee)
This thesis studies the spatial distribution, integration and the diasporic nature of the ex-Yugoslav community living in Czechia and Prague. Theoretical concepts used are community studies, transnationalism, segregation, diasporic communities, and integration. Compared to other ethnic minorities in Czechia, ex-Yugoslavs are generally overlooked by research in social science. This immigrant generation is also the first instance of war refugees coming to Czechia in its modern history. The study of ex-Yugoslavs in the Czech society can potentially be useful for the future (research) of migration to Czechia. The first part of the thesis provides statistical data and a brief history of migration from the Balkans. This is followed up with the qualitative part of the thesis, where 13 ex- Yugoslavs are interviewed as a case study. The responses are coded and interpreted along with quotes. Ex-Yugoslavs display a preference for bigger cities, especially for Prague where they concentrate in the city centre, from whence their numbers radially decrease. The ex-Yugoslav community in Prague displays certain diasporic aspects, a "Yugoslav spirit" and a coexistence among nationalities. Many ex- Yugoslavs came here fleeing war and economic troubles. They have been successfully integrated and many have children,...
