Olivine and his industrial uses
Novotný, Petr ; Matějka, Dobroslav (advisor) ; Faltus, Miloš (referee)
This thesis is focused on the minerals olivine group, and their bearing deposits and practical use in industry. Specifies the structural, chemical and physical properties of minerals and is a prominent member of the group of olivine, which are given their distinctive characteristics. It also discusses the world's largest producers of olivine and especially the specific uses of this mineral, especially for industrial purposes. Keywords Olivine, olivine group, refractory materials, abrasive water jet cutting
Industrial quartz
Pacák, Karel ; Matějka, Dobroslav (advisor) ; Faltus, Miloš (referee)
This thesis deals with SiO2 minerals, with main focus on the mineral quartz, which is one of the most common crust forming minerals. It informs about various SiO2 modifications, describing internal structure, physical and chemical characteristics, which give the SiO2 minerals their valuable properties in industrial use. Thesis also tracks abundance of these minerals in nature and describes qualitative criteria used to classify them in the manufacturing industry. There are several industrial applications of these minerals described.
Cryopreservation of sensitive potato genotypes
Faltus, Miloš ; Bilavčík, Alois ; Zámečník, Jiří
This methodology describes the preparation of explants prior to cryopreservation, dehydration of shoot tips, procedure and principles of sample cryopreservation, regeneration of control plants, including evaluation of explant survival and regeneration for sensitive potato genotypes which were formerly very difficult to cryopreserve. Ministry of agriculture of the Czech Republic is the user of this methodology and it applies it in the framework of the "National program for conservation and utilization of plant genetic resources, animals and micro-organisms important for nutrition and agriculture".

Analysis of the investment cycle in the Czech Republic in the years 2000 - 2012
Faltus, Milan ; Czesaný, Slavoj (advisor) ; Titze, Miroslav (referee)
The theme of this thesis is to analyze the development of the investment cycle in the Czech Republic in the years 2000-2012 and clarify the impact of defined development determinants of the investment. In the thesis, the investment environment in, which investors make decisions, is described and which the economic policy of the state affects. After the contribution analysis of individual growth components of GDP, the following statistically oriented section examines the level of investment, investment determinants and their mutual connection with GFCF. The work also contains an alternative view on the investment in the production sector, with the help of G. Reisman's GDR indicator. Finally, there are introduced others, not so well quantifiable factors that may also influence the formation and development of the investment cycle.
Cultivation of grapevine in conditions in vitro
Faltus, Miloš ; Skala, Ondřej ; Bilavčík, Alois ; Zámečník, Jiří
Grapevine is a traditional crop in the Czech Republic, especially in the South Moravia region. It is a vegetatively propagated crop; hence vineyards are endangered by abiotic and biotic stress influence. The risk of plant damage due to frost and pest influence occurs in the field conditions according to season and locality. Cultivation of grapevine in conditions in vitro eliminates the risk. Higher utilization of the method is limited by sensitivity of some genotype to in vitro conditions. This methodology solves these problems and describes material introduction into in vitro conditions, explants multiplication and slow growth condition establishment. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic is the user of this methodology and it will utilize it in the framework of “National Programme on Conservation and Utilization of Plant, Animal and Microbial Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture”.

Grapevine cryoconservation
Faltus, Miloš ; Kotková, Renata ; Bilavčík, Alois ; Zámečník, Jiří
Storage of grapevine germplasm is endangered by biotic and abiotic stressors in the field conditions, and it is connected with the risk of valuable accession loss. Cryoconservation is a method which eliminates the risk and makes a safe long-term storage of plant germplasm possible. Cryoconservation method is based on storage of plant material at a temperature of liquid nitrogen when all processes are practically stopped but the viability of plant material remains. This methodology describes preparation of plant explants before cryoconservation, apical shoot tip dehydration by cryoprotectants, procedure and principles of long-time plant storage and plant recovery for evaluation of explant survival and regeneration. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic is the user of this methodology and it will utilize it in the framework of “National Programme on Conservation and Utilization of Plant, Animal and Microbial Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture”.

Conservation of Allium germplasm collection by cryopreservation
Zámečník, Jiří ; Grospietsch, Martin ; Kotková, Renata ; Faltus, Miloš
Allium is important crop in the Czech Republic. Allium sativum L. germplasm is maintained in the field collection and this fact increases risk of accidental lost of genotype. Conservation of Allium sativum L. germplasm by means cryopreservation decreases risks of genotype lost. Allium sativum L. samples are stored at ultralow temperature that stopped all biochemical processes and the samples are stored without any changes for many years. This methodology describes procedure of material preparation, explant preculture and dehydration by mixture of cryoprotectants, shoot tips cryopreservation and their recovery. Principles of safe genotype storage and recovery are defined. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic is the user of this methodology and it will utilize the Allium sativum L. cryopreservation method in the frame of “National Programme on Conservation and Utilization of Plant, Animal and Microbial Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture”.

Allocation of investment projects supported with investment incentives in the Czech Republic
Faltus, Milan ; Ryvolová, Ivana (advisor) ; Zemplinerová, Alena (referee)
This thesis deals with investment incentives in the Czech Republic. Specifically, analyzes the allocation function of investment incentives in the performance of one of their objectives. Not only erasure of the difference between the economic development of regions of the Czech Republic, but reducing the average level of unemployment in these regions as well. In the period 2000-2007 were the frontiers set down by law determining the ceiling limits of public support as above average unemployment in the region so that the regions were notionally divided into four different groups. In the first part of the analysis is (with the aid of these groups) observed inflow of investments in specific regions and compared with the possible amount of public support for the group to which the county belongs. In the second part of the analysis are the four most frequented and the four least frequented regions chosen as representative samples, which are compared by selected factors that may affect the investor`s decisions.
