Evaluation of Investment with the Usage of Fuzzy Logic

Master ’s thesis deals with evaluation of investment using advanced methods of analysis and modeling with regards to the best offer. The content of the thesis consists of creating two decision making systems based on fuzzy logic. The thesis also contains a theoretical basics which are necessary for the creation of both systems and evaluating the benefits of the solution.

Fragmented populations of freshwater pearl mussel (Margaritifera margaritifera) in nonwadable rivers in Czech Republic

Margaritifera margaritifera is a critically endangered species of freshwater bivalve. The protection status is regulated by both the legislation of the Czech Republic and local regulations. The aim of this thesis was to map the current occurrence of M. margaritifera in Czech streams and to verify assumptions about its occurrence in Otava near Horažďovice. Furthermore, the parameters of the shells of dead individuals, which are in the collections of the National Museum in Prague and the Czech University of Life Sciences, were also measured. A total of 642 shells collected from the Vltava, Teplá Vltava, Malše and Otava were available, while only the relevant part, specifically 509 shells, were used for separate evaluation. Differences in the morphological parameters of the shells depending on the locality and their possible correlation with the stream order of the Otava, Vltava, Teplá Vltava and Malša were investigated. Thanks to the findings from the mapping of living freshwater pearl mussels, a proposal was drawn up to modify the methodology of bivalve research in the Czech Republic, which is part of the Rescue program of freshwater pearl mussels, led by the AOPK of the Czech Republic. Status of the flatworm Crenobia alpina in the food network of a spring

This work focuses on food preferences of freshwater triclad Crenobia alpina and its position in spring food web. It explores the ability of C. alpina to capture living prey, considers ability of C. alpina and to survive feeding on several types of food. Furthermore it gives view on its occurence and ecological preferences in context of other spring species. One chapter is concerned with taxonomy, anatomy and ecology of Tricladida and C. alpina itself. Short term food-preference experiments show the ability of C. alpina to capture living Lumriculidae and larvae of Ephemeroptera. We don't confirm feeding of C. alpina on living Gammarus, although their occurence in our springs and ecological preferences are similar. C. alpina feeds significantly more on damaged prey without substantial afinity to any species. A year-long experiment on C. alpina in lab conditions finds that this flatworm is able to survive and even breed with nothing but filtred water. This fact connected with the observation of huge densities of flatworms in spring source, opens up a question whether C. alpina can be considered a real predator. Phylogenetic and ecological impact to the microstructures of mollusc shells

This bachelor thesis summarizes the available information on microstructures of mollusc shells. The aim was to provide an overview of the different types of microstructures for specific specimens from different environments, as well as to obtain as much information as possible about the ecology of these animals. The first part summarizes the basic information on the shell formation. The following chapter summarizes known microstructure types of mollusc shells. Microstructures of molluscs living in terrestric, freshwater and marine environment are discussed. The influence of temperature changes on the shell microstructure of V. viviparus, the occurrence of vaterit within C. fluminea shells, the extreme environment of hydrothermal vents and cold seeps, as well as extreme temperatures on rocky shores, have been mentioned in more detail. The microstructures of related molluscs are compared with regard to ecology to determine whether the occurrence of microstructures in a particular group is given by the phylogeny of these animals, or if the changes in microstructures can be affected by different ecology. Solving the Problem of Somali Maritime Piracy

The thesis deals with the contemporary problem of Somali maritime hijackings from the European Union perspective. First, it presents the problem per se while focusing on the framework in which the piracy issue is being solved. Second, it analyses the role of the post-Lisbon European Union in international crisis management. Taking EU's first naval military mission EU NAVFOR Somalia "Atalanta" as a case study, the paper essentially aims at shedding some light on the current state of the European Union's recognition as a major actor in international politics. Based on the Somali piracy case study, the text contributes to the theoretical debate about EU actorness.

The development of Somalia since 1990 and the issue of piracy

This paper deals with the development of Somalia since the decay of the dictatorship in the early 1990s and further analyses the attempts to reestablish the somali national state and why any of them did not succeed. Focus on the various sides of the contlict, which is among the goals, sheds light on their performance in the somali failed state, lacking any effective central government. The theoretical part of the paper is dedicated to the phenomenon of failed state, which is being discussed a lot in the post-bipolar period, pursuing the need to solve problems related to failed and failing states. Somalia has become one of them.
