Lithyalin and glazed glass of Friedrich Egermann and Buquoy Hyalit glass - a phenomenon of the Biedermeier and the Second Rococo era in the Czech lands.
Schneiderová, Daniela ; Schöttner, Jan (advisor) ; Wittlich, Filip (referee)
This thesis examines a specific part of the Czech glass production from twenties to forties of the 19th century. It focuses specifically on the production of glassworks at Novohradsko in South Bohemia where the black and red hyalit glass was been made. Next it examines the works of glass technologist Bedřich Egermann in Polevsko and (Nový) Bor, where he rediscovered and implemented the production of glaze refined glass and also discovered and made the first lithyalin glass. These new made or rediscovered technological methods reflected the change of taste in the Biedermeier and Second Rococo era when the glass production in the Czech lands has reached world class. Not only that it could cope with current English and French production, but it surpassed them in many regards. Producing opaque and glazed glass was a significant deed that contributed to increasing the reputation of already great Czech glassmaking in this era. Keywords Buquoys, Egermann, hyalit, glazes, opaque glass, glass
Evaluation of the production of the Wilhelm Schiller & Sohn manufactory from an artistic point of view.
Benetka, Jaroslav ; Schöttner, Jan (advisor) ; Wittlich, Filip (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the history of the manufacturer of siderolite and majolica, the Wilhelm Schiller & Sohn factory in Horní Žleb. It focuses on the evaluation of the production of the factory during its existence between 1851 and 1910. The factory was one of the most important producers of siderolite and majolica in North Bohemia at the time. Franz Laube, the later director of the Technical school in Teplice (Teplitzer Fachzeichnen- und Modellir-Schule), was also one of the factory's employees. Wilhelm Schiller closely followed the artistic development of the world's styles and designed his models according to them, while preserving their own character. The factory employed a large number of people from the surrounding area.

Nohejl, Jiří ; Wittlich, Filip (referee)
The main theme of this dissertation is to define an image as a visual experience. There is an emphasis on the process of perception itself and on the way of interaction of an individual emphasizing the context of social learning and imitation in this text. The analysis of the principles of this interaction leading into introduction of the partial interactive models covering these processes is formed by the essential plane. The structure of the thesis is divided into ten main chapters in which the author tries to introduce a category of perception, a definition of the image and imitation as a tool of cultural transmission, presentation of the units of this transmission, the process of the interaction itself and analogous example of the fundamental role that a person in this interaction holds. There are also three analogies of these roles, which refer to the anthropological universal interaction describing the man as a gatherer and hunter. Their main purpose is to illustrate the form of a human experience better. Finally, there are reflections on the topic above. The possibilities and results, which...
The photographic image and it's meaning for historical knowledge
Wittlich, Filip ; Beneš, Zdeněk (advisor)
The Photographic Image and Its Meaning for Historical Knowledge. The topic of the thesis is the thus far relatively seldom pursued area of unwritten visual historical sources created by photographic images. The thesis itself is divided into five parts. The first chapter examines selected circumstances and assumptions which led to the creation of photography. Aside from reference to differing perceptions of cyclical (natural) and linear (historic) time as an important assumption for various methods of capturing the past, attention is given to the illusive mimetic pictorial tradition which is characteristic for depicting reality in Western culture. On the basis of this illustrative tradition - in connection with knowledge from the natural sciences - photography was created as a product of a societal need for depiction. Attention is given to the basic factography of the inventors of photography and to how the new depiction was used and developed in society. The second chapter is devoted to the changeable content of the term of art oscillating between activity and knowledge, and further to the results of this conflict in assessing photography. On the basis of defining the position of photography between science and art, attention is given to the three most pronounced fields which in their discourse...
