The Polarity of Good and Evil in Sophie de Mello Breyner Andresen's Exemplary Stories
Roubínková, Sofie ; Válová, Karolina (advisor) ; Grauová, Šárka (referee)
The bachelor's thesis The Polarity of Good and Evil in Sophie de Mello Breyner Andresen's Exemplary Stories is focused mainly on the short stories "Journey" and "Man" from the book Contos Exemplares written in 1962, where the Portuguese writer Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen used medieval exemplum as one of the creative literary methods. However, the thesis also takes into account the author's short stories such as "Dinner with the Bishop'', ''Beach" and ''Homer" and tries to define the good and the evil aspects in them, which can be often hard to find. Methodologically, the bachelor's thesis is above all based on the Portuguese study "Para uma Leitura dos Contos Exemplares" (2001) by Clara Rocha and the book Man, Good and Evil (1993) by Erazim Kohák.
