Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmaceutical Technology Candidate Mgr. Alena Fraňková Consultant Doc. PharmDr. Zdeňka Šklubalová, Ph.D. Title of Thesis Osmolality of parenteral preparations. Calcium chloride. Knowledge of osmotic concentration of the solution is necessary for the safe application of the large-volume parenteral product. In this work, osmolality and the density of molal and molar aqueous solutions of calcium chloride hexahydrate in a concentration range of 20 - 1000 mmol/kg, and/or mol/l, respectively, were measured. The density of the solution was directly proportional to its concentration. The non-linear dependence of the density on temperature was described by the quadratic regressions with coefficients of determination in a range of 0,9997 - 1,0000. The average density of solutions at 20 řC was used in the mutual interconversion between molality and molarity. A linear dependence was found between molality and molarity of calcium chloride hexahydrate solutions. Three methods of estimation of osmolarity (mosmol/l) of the calcium chloride hexahydrate solutions were studied and the results were compared with the experimentally determined osmolality (mosmol/kg). Out of them, the most accurate values of osmolarity provided a method...
