David-from a shepherd of sheep to a king over Israel The diploma thesis focuses on David-from a shepherd of sheep to a king over Israel in the view of archetypes of a king, warrior, magician and a lover. We used two methods of processing: the historical-critical method and the scientific-popularizing method. In the introduction we shall observe David's place in the general frame of the history of salvation and the history of Israel. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the first part the texts are situated within the context of historical connections, the second part focuses on the biblical analysis of key texts using biblical commentaries and the third part is dedicated to the application of archetypes of David's personality and their integration. In the conclusion there is a summary of findings concerning Israel, David's growing up and the perspective in the context of Christ. Keywords David, archetypes of king, warrior, magician, lover, growing up of a boy into a man, example for Israel, David in the perspective of Christ
