The Bachelor Thesis "The year 1968 in Jihlava" maps the course of that year in a district town called Jihlava. The events of this year are a very interesting and often discussed point in the Czech history. This work includes a brief introduction into the atmosphere in the Czechoslovak socialist republic in the sixties of 20th century. The second chapter describes the course of the year 1968 from its beginning. In this year the release of a political tension in the Czechoslovak republic was going on. This process is colloquially called "the Prague Spring". New politicians ascended to the politic power and established a new theory. They called this theory "Socialism with human face". The main part of this work deals with the course of the invasion Warsaw Pact army in the Czechoslovak republic on 21st August 1968. The thesis is mainly focused on the town Jihlava. The fifth chapter of this work describes affairs which happened in Jihlava in the second half of the year 1968.
