Voice education in adult choir

The goal of the bachelor thesis is to explain the importance of voice education in adult choirs. In the introduction of the thesis, the historical developments of voice education and the physiology of the vocal tract are briefly described. Later, the issues of singing posture, breath support and warm up are examined. The terms consonant, vocal, vocal register and resonance are explained. The thesis continues with introducing breath and vocal exercises to strengthen the main vocal attributes. These exercises are suitable for all voice types. The last topic of the theoretical part is vocal hygiene. The basic preventive measures to ensure the longevity of the vocal apparatus: regeneration, nutrition, voice care prior to a performance. The core of the thesis is the research part, which itself consists of two parts. The first one includes interviews with vocal teachers. The interviews were held in person with a list of prepared questions. The content of the interviews revolves around the issues of warm up, frequently occurring vocal problems and integration of new choir members. The second part examines voice education approaches in three chosen Czech amateur choirs. This analysis is done based on personal observations of the choirs' rehearsals. It also deals with vocal defects and voice disorders and related vocal hygiene. In the next part of the work it describes the history of Prachatice and its development. Finally, the thesis deals with the choirs in Prachatice, focusing on their history, current activities, choirmasters and the repertoire of the choirs.
Hygiene of voice in teaching

The present bachelor thesis deals with vocal hygiene in the teaching profession. It consists of two parts the theoretical one and the practical one. The theoretical part is focused on the voice production and physiology of the vocal tract. It also pursues voice properties, problems and disorders. An important chapter of the thesis is dedicated to taking care of the vocal cords. In the teaching profession, the voice is a key communication tool. Therefore, it is substantial to follow not only proper vocal hygiene but also proper vocal techniques as teachers are at the same time models for the learners. In the practical part, the author analysed a questionnaire by means of which she inquired teachers' awareness related to vocal hygiene.

This bachelor thesis "Voice of pedagogue and work with voice in the teaching profession" is generally divided into seven chapters and deals with voice as the working tools of pedagogues, deals with the demands of teacher's voice and proper use of voice in the teacher´s profession. It also describes the anatomy and physiology of the vocal tract, it discusses voice properties and development of human voice, it includes the basic division of voice disorders and speech impediments, their causes, and the possible ways of their treatment. Voice is teacher's most valuable asset and with it they transmit not only information, but also mood, atmosphere and emotions. For teachers, it is necessary to stick to the vocal hygiene and proper control speech technology, therefore the bachelor thesis summarizes the rules of vocal hygiene with the voice care options available and suggests practical motives for voice exercises in lessons of language teaching, literary education, reading and writing.
Voice/vocal cords - the working tools of a leisure time pedagogue

This work deals with voice and the vocal cords as the working tools of pedagogues not only of leisure time. It describes the structure and the workings of the vocal apparatus. It discusses voice typology and voice properties. It includes the basic division of voice disorders and speech impediments, their causes, and the possible ways of their treatment. It also summarises the principles of vocal hygiene along with the voice care options available. The crucial part of the work is the chapter concerning vocal practice, which gives information on specific breathing, vocal, and articulation exercises. Pedagogues belong among vocal professionals and are subjected to considerable vocal strain. Correct voice formation and care should be part of their lifestyle. At the same time, pedagogues are speech models to their pupils and students, and refined speech reflects on them.
